Dear Parent / Carer,
Please could you check the following with your son and / or daughter if they are part of our
iPad scheme or are bringing their own iPad to school:
-
Make sure your son and/or daughter are signed in with their school Apple ID. To do this
go to Settings then iTunes and App Store.
Check that they have updated their iPad to the current version of iOS, 8.1.3. To do this,
go to Settings, General then Software Update.
Students may need to free some space to install the update. A quick way of freeing
space is to delete any unwanted apps (not school ones!) or uploading files onto Google
Drive. There are some instructions on how to back up content such as photos and
videos to Google Drive here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0qCOKpGZx4
Google Drive has unlimited free storage space.

Ensure that they have accepted our email message to allow some school-purchased
apps to be distributed. The email will have been sent to your child’s school email
address by Meraki. All they need to do is tap the link in the invitation and enter their
Apple ID password.
Students then need to go to the App Store and download Explain Everything and the
paid version of Book Creator. They should see a cloud icon next to the app name. If
these apps have a price next to them, check the steps above and download them again.
Do not pay for them – please ask your child to see our IT technicians if there is a
problem.
Go to the Meraki MDM app on the iPad and tap Managed Apps. Install any missing
apps by tapping the + icon on the right of the screen. Students should have iBooks,
iTunes U, Desmos, Google Classroom, Inkpad and Math Keyboard downloaded.
Yours faithfully,
J Roper
