About Me
• “It is easier to resist at the beginning than at the end.” ― Leonardo
da Vinci
o Sometimes you might take too long to get started on
homework or a project because you don’t understand what
you’re supposed to do. It’s okay to ask your teacher if you have
a question. (self-determination/self-advocacy)
(Piechart of Procrastination)
Female Teacher: Leonardo da Vinci once said, “It is easier to resist at the
beginning than at the end”.
Boy: What does he mean by that?
Teacher: Sometimes you might take too long to get started on homework
or a project because you don’t understand what you’re supposed to do. It’s
okay to ask your teacher if you have a question.
Boy: I will try to ask more questions to help me get started. Thanks!
• “Always remember that you are absolutely unique, just like
everyone else” ~ Margaret Meade
You have your own way of learning. You might like to
read and look at pictures; listen to stories; or do handson learning. You might even like different kinds of
learning for different subjects. (self-determination)
Male Teacher: Always remember that you are absolutely unique, just
like everyone else. That quote from Margaret Meade always makes
me think about learning.
Female student: What do you mean?
Teacher: You have your own way of learning. You might like to read
and look at pictures; listen to stories; or do hands-on learning. You
might even like different kinds of learning for different subjects.

and I learn.” ― Benjamin Franklin

or doing new things. You can use a concept map to organize
your thoughts or use flashcards to study. These are called
accommodations and it’s important for you to know which
ones help you the most. (self-determination/self-advocacy)

• “Liar, Liar, pants on fire” ~ William Blake

computer screen. That person you have been chatting with

live. Be careful of what you share online. # (online safety)
Male teacher: When you’re online always remember, “Liar, liar, pants on
fire”. You never know who is on the other side of a computer screen. That
person you have been chatting with could be lying about their name, age,
gender and where they live. Be careful of what you share online.
Male student: That’s a good point. I’m going to make sure everything I have
online is private and protected.

Female teacher: “A wolf in sheep's clothing is still a wolf.”
Male Student: What do you mean?
Teacher: Someone can pretend to be someone else when they are talking
to you online. You could put yourself in serious danger meeting someone
you do not know by yourself or even with another friend. Never meet an
online friend in person without a parent or guardian present.
Student: I haven’t thought of that before, but it makes sense. Thank you!

boat now.” ― Martin Luther King Jr.

(self-determination)
* You can pick your nose and you can pick your friends, but you can’t pick
your friends nose! (social)
Student: I found this Martin Luther King Jr. quote I really like. “We may
have all come on different ships, but we’re in the same boat now”.

ideas to different people. Remember though, other people have their own
ideas too. The tricky part is coming up with something you can all agree on.
