554,742 students in twelve counties during the 2015 – 2016 school year. The students we reached are now better
equipped to manage their finances, become entrepreneurs, and enter the global workforce.
On the heels of our successful 75th Anniversary in 2015, this year was also a time to reflect and plan. We unveiled a 2020 Strategic Plan, focusing on increasing the overall JA experience for
each student. By continuing to implement technology-based programming while utilizing the in-class volunteer, we hope to make the JA experience even more impactful. We also plan to grow
our brand and reach new audiences through social media and our evergreen “Take Your Work to Kids Day” campaign that Leo Burnett Worldwide and Starcom USA developed for us last year.

5th Annual High School Competition
In April, hundreds of area high school students attended Junior Achievement of Chicago’s 5th Annual High School Competition
at Robert Morris University. Students participated in a variety of networking, communication, and resume writing activities, while
others competed in the JA Titan® Competition.
Additionally, select students presented their JA Company Program® companies to a panel of judges. A Bite of Barrington from
Barrington High School won “Company of the Year” and went on to represent Chicago at the JA National Student Leadership Summit.

Scholarships
Each year, JA gives thousands of dollars in scholarships and awards to exceptional students who have
participated in JA programs. This year, Junior Achievement high school seniors received more than
$180,000 in scholarships thanks to the many friends in the business, professional and educational
communities. With their support and belief in higher education, our students are provided with a terrific
opportunity at future success.
The top award, the Colonel Henry Crown Scholarship, provides four students with $40,000 over the
course of four years at an accredited college, and includes a paid summer internship at a Henry Crown
affiliated company.

The Taco Bell Foundation Connects Students with College and Careers
The Taco Bell Foundation believes all young people deserve the chance to follow their dreams and reach their full potential through high school graduation. At a time when youth are
unsure about their future, they are there to support them with the resources and opportunities needed to ignite their passions and become the next generation’s leaders.
Each year, Taco Bell invests over $100,000 in Junior Achievement of Chicago’s programs. Additionally, dozens of employees from Saratoga Food Specialties, a Taco Bell vendor, volunteer
in JA classrooms to teach JA programming and encourage students to graduate. We’d also like to thank NJB Operations for providing additional volunteers and donating lunch for our
annual “Graduate for Más” high school events.

JA partners with dozens of universities and colleges each year. Their dedicated and inspirational student volunteers deliver the programs effectively and with great impact
to make a positive difference to the K-8 students in many at-risk communities. Elementary students benefit from having a role model they can relate to in their classroom

The Junior Achievement Business Hall of Fame signature event honors the incredible life stories of business leaders who have provided for the
Chicago community and serve as exceptional role models for today’s youth.
Bryan C. Cressey | Co-Founder and Partner | Cressey & Company, LP
Cressey is a pioneer of the venture capital and private equity industries. He has co-founded three significant Private Equity firms over
35 years that are each highly successful today. At age 30 he was co-founder of his first firm, Golder Thoma Cressey, now known as
GTCR. Eight years ago Bryan co-founded Cressey and Company, known for its expertise investing in healthcare providers.
The Wall Street Journal credited Bryan’s firm with inventing the Industry Consolidation investment strategy. Bryan has also partnered
in the building of two NYSE traded firms over the past two decades. He recently created an addiction treatment center called Above
and Beyond, on Chicago’s West side, bringing free life transformation opportunities to the homeless and poor.

Junior Achievement of Chicago Celebrates
75 Years of Taking Work to Kids
On October 7, 2015, JA commemorated our 75th Anniversary with a dinner and reception at the Hyatt Regency
Chicago. The theme was “Take Your Work to Kids Day,” the evergreen campaign Leo Burnett Worldwide, Starcom
USA, and FleishmanHillard created for us in honor of this milestone year.
This event celebrated JA’s past success while looking forward to future accomplishments. Former ITW
Chairman and CEO, David Speer, who was a champion of JA’s mission, was posthumously inducted into
the Chicago Business Hall of Fame. Appropriately, his story was told by students of the ITW David Speer
Academy, and many former Hall of Fame inductees joined us to be part of this well-deserved honor.

We would like to formally thank and recognize the generous donors that contributed
to our $7.5 million campaign, in alignment with the commemorative 75th anniversary year.
This campaign was launched to fund in perpetuity JA’s growing resource of non-traditional volunteers — college students,
high school students, veterans, retirees, and volunteers from community organizations, parent groups, and other organizations.
Since 2000, JA’s student outreach has doubled, due in large part to more JA classes being taught by non-traditional volunteers.
The campaign was established to ensure that JA can continue to expand its impact.
