Movement: describes how people and ideas in one place make contact with people from another place. Ex: Planes, cars, cell phones, internet Place: features that make locations similar or different. Ex: Similar: Climates of Texas & Japan Different: Rocky Mountains in Colorado and Great Plains of Texas 5 Themes of Geography (MR LIP) Interaction – Human & Environment: How humans interact with the environment – How the environment affects us and how we affect the environment. Ex: We wear light clothes in the Texas summer due to the heat and we cut down trees for lumber but are decreasing oxygen (deforestation). Location: Where a place or person is located. *Absolute Location: Exact position on the Earth using latitude & longitude. Ex: 40°N 120°W. *Relative Location: A position based on the location of another object. Ex: I am next door to McDonald’s
