New Acreage Reporting
CLU Requirement for 2016
Common Land Unit (CLU), farm, tract, and field numbers
are required for all 2016 acreage reports. You will be unable
to submit the acreage report online without this information.
Acreage Crop Reporting Streamlining Initiative (ACRSI)
For policyholders who submit Acreage Reports with their crop insurance agent and with FSA, ACRSI may promote time
savings for filing paperwork. Here are some key points to remember.
• ACRSI does NOT change any crop insurance reporting requirements or deadlines.
• The policyholder is still required to complete an Acreage Report with their crop insurance agent.
• ACRSI does NOT change any FSA reporting requirements or deadlines.
Reasons the policyholder should come to YOU for ACRSI Acreage Reporting
• You are the crop insurance expert
• Trust - Your policyholders trust you to guide them when making their crop insurance risk management decisions.
• Knowledge - There are many required elements of an Acreage Report. You have the knowledge needed to help provide accurate
information and reporting.
• You have many resources at your fingertips
• Policy Administration Team - We are here to answer questions and ensure your policies are handled correctly.
• Unity Mapping - This resource makes Acreage Reporting a visual process and helps with CLU accuracy.
• MyAgData - If the policyholder uses PrecisionAg technology, the Acreage Report can be completed using this data.
• For those who report to FSA, the data can be pulled in to populate the Acreage Report.
• There are 13 crops involved in the ACRSI pilot
• If the policyholder raises/plants a crop outside the pilot, those crop(s) cannot participate in ACRSI.
• Crop Insurance Pilot Crops: Corn (including Field, Popcorn, Sweet), Soybeans, Wheat (including Khorasan), Cotton (including
Upland, ELS), Grain Sorghum, Rice, Peanuts, Oats, Rye
• Non-Crop Insurance Pilot Crops: Alfalfa, CRP, Fallow, Grass, Sorghum

Do you insure Organic Acreage?
On the date the acreage is reported, the insured must have an organic plan AND
written certification (certificate) in effect from a certifying agency that shows the name
of the person certified, effective date of certification, certification number, types of
commodities certified, and the name and address of the certifying agency. The organic
plan is a written plan, in accordance with the National Organic Program published in 7
CFR part 205, that describes the organic farming practices the insured and a certifying
agent agree upon annually or at such other times as prescribed by the certifying agent.
The organic plan will identify which acreage is certified organic, transitional, or buffer
zone. Most organic plans include field numbers, crops, and acreage totals.
Document Retention
All 2009 and earlier crop insurance documents should be
destroyed on or before July 15 unless instructed otherwise.
For the full document retention policy, log in to your
AFBIS web account and click “Agent Resources” in the
Agent Options menu.

New Breaking
Acreage is considered to be New Breaking when it has not
been planted and harvested or insured in any of the three
previous crop years. The exceptions to this are:
• Unless in Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) or
other USDA program in 2 of 3 previous crop years
• Due to rotation
• Crop is a perennial
• 5% or less of acreage in unit
A Written Agreement is necessary for insurability unless
Special Provisions of Insurance (SPOI) allow and acreage
meets New Breaking Insurability request guidelines. The
New Breaking Insurability request may be submitted until
the Acreage Reporting Date.

Benefits of Crop Hail Coverage
1. Rates are competitive - Consider reinvesting the premium
savings from an Enterprise Unit MPCI policy to Crop Hail
coverage. A Crop Hail policy allows per acre coverage for
a claim.
2. Deductibles - Can help reduce premium cost.
3. Coverage can be purchased for any dollar amount per acre
up to the limit for a crop. The crop underwriting limits vary
by state.
4. Crop Hail coverage has no application deadline - It can be
written and coverage increased during the growing season
until harvest when hail has not occurred on the crop. The
exception is Green Snap/Wind coverage in states where
this coverage is applicable.
5. Cash discounts are available.
6. Early Season or Carryover Coverage - Insurance attaches
immediately at planting the following year.
7. AgriData Hail Probability Report - We’ll send you an
email and map when a hail storm may have impacted your
insured.

leave a phone message at 1-800-662-5142 ext. 6926,
stating you’ve written coverage, and giving the pertinent
application information.
