Welcome to AKTutorProʼs conversion sheet... for use with the Real Estate Math Tutorial Series
This handy conversion sheet summarizes all the different conversions we did in the Real Estate Math
Tutorial.
For the Real Estate Exam you MUST know how to do ALL these conversions and formulas...
Where there are conversions or formulas you donʼt know, for example 1 mile = 5280 feet, you must
learn them... you will NOT be able to take them into the Real Estate Exam with you!
The examples follow exactly the same format as the course...
You write down the problem in the format:
• “units” that you want on the LEFT side
• draw an EQUALS SIGN (“=”)
• Write down everything you know on the RIGHT side
• Do the steps necessary to convert what you KNOW to what you WANT
Example: How many inches are in 36 feet?
write down what you want = what you know
? inches = 36 feet
12inches
1f t
look up the conversion factor in the table
(in this case you want: feet -> inches
and inches is on the TOP in the conversion
factor)
convert the right side to the units you want (in
this example, inches) by multiplying by the
appropriate conversion factor from the table
(and canceling out terms that are on both the
top and bottom - feet in this example)
? inches = 36 f eet ∗
12 inches
= 36 ∗ 12inches = 432 inches
1 f oot
NOTE: feet on top and bottom cancel each other out and leaves
you with just inches - what you wanted!

AREA
Area is ALWAYS f t2 , yd2 , miles2 , etc. and is always obtained by multiplying one area by another
For example: 1yd * 1yd = 1yd2 (NOTE: ACRE is a measurement of AREA, even though it is not referred
to as “SQUARE ACRES”... Itʼs already defined as a certain number of SQUARE FEET)

Land conversions are something youʼre not likely to see outside the Real Estate Exam...

Vermont, Tennessee, Kentucky and West Virginia) which are based on the old English metes-and-bounds
system) and Texas and Hawaii.
