CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
Artspace Mackay strictly adheres to the following Conditions of Entry to ensure fairness for all
entrants. Please ensure you abide by all Conditions of Entry as the selection panel will not consider
entries that do not comply.
ELIGIBILITY
The Libris Awards are open to artists living & working anywhere in Australia (must be an Australian
citizen or resident in Australia for 12 months or more). Entrants may submit one entry only. All
finalists’ works are eligible for acquisition by Mackay Regional Council & for the major Dalrymple Bay
Coal Terminal National Artists Book Award (Category 1). Each entry must be the original work of the
entrant & must have been completed since April 2014. Location of residence conditions apply in
Category 2 (Applicant must reside in Mackay, Whitsunday and Isaac Regional Council regions in
Queensland) & restrictions apply in Category 3. (To be eligible for Category 3 you must be 26 or
under in 2016. Age restrictions do not apply if you are currently studying an undergraduate visual
arts course. Course and institution name and student ID number must be provided)
HOW TO ENTER
All entrants must complete the Entry Form, either online or in printed format. All entries must include a
non-refundable entry fee of $40 (inc. GST). If not entering using the online entry and payment facility,
all entry payments (ie. cheques/money orders) should be made payable to Mackay Regional Council.
This administration fee is non-refundable. Receipts will be posted upon request. All entrants must
enclose a cd-rom containing up to 5 digital images of the entered work. Digital images should be less
than 2mb each, saved as jpegs & able to be opened on PC format. They should be suitable quality for
use in printed promotion. Each jpeg should be saved with artist’s name & title of the work. All entries
should also be accompanied by a statement of 100-150 words about the artwork and a curriculum
vitae, briefly outlining professional experience & exhibition history (2 pages max). ALL CDs WILL BE
RETAINED BY ASM.

PRE-SELECTION
Entries for pre-selection for the Libris Awards 2016 must be received by ASM no later than 8 July
2016. Pre-selection will be undertaken by a panel chaired by the Artspace Mackay Director. The
Panel will select finalists to be considered for exhibition, awards & acquisition. Notification of the
Panel’s decision will be posted on ASM’s website on Monday 25 July 2016. All entrants will be notified
of the outcome of the pre-selection process by email. Please note, digital & supporting material will
not be returned by ASM. Finalists’ entries selected for exhibition should be delivered to ASM no later
than Monday 8 August 2016. Late entries will not be accepted. Works should be accompanied by a
completed artwork label form and any instructions regarding display of the work. The artwork label
form will be distributed via email to finalists with official notification of selection. Artworks will not be
accepted unless accompanied by this label and delivered to ASM.
EXHIBITION
Entries in the 2016 Libris Awards will be displayed between 27 August & 16 October 2016 at Artspace
Mackay. Winners will be announced on Saturday 27 August at the Libris Awards Presentation Event
(please see website for details).
LABELS, PACKAGING AND DISPLAY
A label, to be attached to/inserted into original artwork, will be forwarded to finalists by email with
selection notification. This label must accompany work when delivered along with clear instructions for
display of the work. Entries are to be adequately packed in a strong box/tube. Packaging materials
should be suitable for re-use. Wall-mounted or free-standing works must be suitably prepared for
installation/hanging (ie. fixtures, instructions etc included). Final decisions for display lay with the
gallery. The gallery will endeavour to display works according to instructions, however no guarantee
will be made. All works will be held by Artspace Mackay for the duration of the exhibition. Exhibition
closes Sunday 16 October 2016.
RETURN OF ARTWORK
All entrants are to ensure they have included adequate labelling to facilitate the return of their work.
This includes an address label including contact name and phone number. Entries to be collected
personally or by courier must be collected during business hours by Friday 4 November 2016. ASM
will cover the cost of postage of artworks back to entrants via Australia Post – standard parcel
delivery only. Oversized or heavy works will incur an additional charge to be paid for by the entrant.

organised by the entrant at their own expense. Artspace Mackay must be informed of any
arrangements for pick-up of works in advance.
PUBLICITY
Finalists must allow their works to be reproduced by print or electronic media (including website) in
the advertising & promotion of the exhibition & Libris Awards. Artspace Mackay reserves the right to
reproduce the winning entries in publications in relation to the Libris Awards.
JUDGING
The Libris Awards will be judged by Emeritus Professor, Dr. Sasha Grishin AM. Acquisitions through
the MRC Acquisition Fund will be selected by Artspace Mackay. The judge shall determine the awardwinning works. Artspace Mackay & the Judge reserve the right not to award any prize. The judge’s
decision is final & no correspondence will be entered into. All the finalists’ entries will be viewed &
judged in the Gallery, with the selection being final & binding; no correspondence will be entered into.
All entries will be held at Artspace Mackay for the duration of the exhibition.
ACQUISITIONS AND SALES
All finalists’ entries must be available for acquisition by Mackay Regional Council at the artist’s
nominated price. Please note that works will only be acquired if the price does not exceed current
market value. Artists are required to supply Artspace Mackay with a tax invoice if work is purchased.
Winners’ works will be acquired in exchange for the nominated prize money for the corresponding
category. GST is the responsibility of the artist. Artspace Mackay will not be responsible for the sale of
works to third parties. Any enquiries regarding this will be directed to the artist/artist’s agent.
CARE AND INSURANCE
Artspace Mackay will exercise reasonable care of works entered in the Libris Awards but will not
accept responsibility for loss or damage, howsoever caused while works are in its keeping or in
transit. Insurance remains the responsibility of the entrant.
