What punishment did the Prince give Romeo for fighting? ➢ Banishment, since Romeo killed Tybalt who would have been executed according to law. 5. Romeo's slaying of Tybalt put Juliet in an awkward position. What did she decide to do? ➢ Her family wanted Romeo executed for killing Tybalt and are conspiring to poison him in Mantua. Juliet has to decide to support her husband or to go along with her family. Of course she chooses Romeo. 6. Where they can live happily ever after. The entire plan hinges on Friar Laurence getting a message to Romeo in Mantua letting him know what is going on. 7. What news does Balthasar bring Romeo? How does Romeo react? ➢ In the movie it was Benvolio that brought the news; however, in the play Balthasar tells Romeo that Juliet has diedHe is unaware of the plan. 8. What went wrong with the Friar's plan? ➢ Balthasar (or Benvolio in the movie) get to Romeo and tell him that Juliet has died before the messenger, who is quarantined after helping a sick child can get to him. By the time the messenger is able to make it, Romeo has already made his way back to Verona. 9. What are the circumstances of Paris' death? ➢ Paris, mourning the death of what he believed to be his future bride, finds Romeo entering the Capulet tomb and mistakenly believes Romeo is entering the tomb to vandalize Tybalt or Juliet’s bodies challenges Romeo to a fight and is killed in the process. 10.
