I hope you all are ready to get back to business. Good luck to all chapters and let’s have another great year of success. Professionalism has two very important components; it’s not only the way you dress but the way you act as well. FBLA prides itself in being professional and following the rules. We, as Future Business Leaders of America, should carry ourselves with finesse and pride. We represent FBLA and we should show the best representation possible. National FBLA Dress Code FBLA members and advisers should develop an awareness of the image one’s appearance projects. The purpose of the dress code is to uphold the professional image of the association and its members and to prepare students for the business world. Professional attire acceptable for official FBLA activities includes: Males:  Business suit with collar dress shirt, and necktie  Sport coat, dress slacks, collar shirt, and necktie  Dress slacks, collar shirt, and necktie  Banded collar shirt may be worn only if sport coat or business suit is worn  Dress shoes and socks Females:  Business suit with blouse  Business pantsuit with blouse  Skirt or dress slacks with blouse or sweater  Business dress  Capri's or gauchos with coordinating jacket/suit, worn below the knee  Dress shoes Inappropriate attire, for both men and women, includes:  Jewelry in visible body piercing, other than ears  Denim or chambray fabric clothing of any kind, overalls, shorts, skorts, stretch or stirrup pants, exercise or bike shorts Backless, see-through, tight-fitting, spaghetti straps, strapless, extremely short, or low-cut blouses/tops/dresses/ skirts  T-shirts, Lycra™, spandex, midriff tops, tank tops, bathing suits  Sandals, athletic shoes, industrial work shoes, hiking boots, bare feet, or over-theknee boots  Athletic wear, including sneakers  Hats or flannel fabric  Bolo ties  Visible foundation garments  Dressing accordingly doesn’t just make FBLA look good but it makes you look good and who doesn’t want that? New Driver Behind the Wheel After the retirement of Dee Colvin, a new leader has stepped in her place. Barney Sutley has become the new advisor to the Regional President. We welcome him and wish him the best of luck as he helps lead us to a brighter and more successful future. Savannah Allgeier—President PAGE 2 Leadership Qualities Honest Competent Forward-looking Inspiring Greetings fellow FBLA members. My name is Savannah and I am your Region 3 president! I am currently a senior at Henry County High School and have been an active member in FBLA since my freshman year of high school. Throughout the past four years, I have had many memorable experiences meeting new people at FBLA events. However, I would have to say that my fondest FBLA memory was at State competition when everyone would ride the elevators for fun, Socializing with many new people. Even though, my time with FBLA is soon to end I hope to continue my FBLA ties as I hope to attend Kentucky or Cincinnati to become a nurse. My name is Joey Kenny and this is my first year serving as the parliamentarian for Region 3! I am now a senior at Henry County High School. I have been an active member of FBLA for three years. Along with FBLA I have been an active member in NHS, Beta, as well pep club and great outdoors club. However, FBLA holds one of my fondest moments of attending state Conference and placing for Parliamentary Procedures last year. Even though some of my fondest memories are with FBLA, I am looking forward to attending University of Kentucky. Kalynn Walls—Secretary Hello! My name is Kalynn Walls and I am your new Region 3 secretary. I am a senior at Bullitt Central High School and have been involved with FBLA since my freshman year because of my interest in the business field. My most memorable FBLA moment has to be the state conference every year I've attended. I am also actively involved in NHS. I plan to study so that I may become a doctor. Activities I enjoy are working at a law office and being a part of the University of Louisville honor choir. Brittany Chouhan—Treasurer PAGE PAGE 3 3 Hello Future Business Leaders! I am your Region 3 treasurer. I am a senior at Bullitt Central High School and have been involved in FBLA since my freshman year. I became a member of FBLA because I knew it would prepare me for the future. My favorite memory of FBLA was becoming a local chapter officer. Aside from FBLA, I am also a member of Pep Club, NHS, teen court, HHS, culture club, FCA, and student government association. My plans for college are to attend either EKU, WKU, or the University of Kentucky to major in international business. Izajah Armstrong—Reporter Greetings Future Business Leaders! I am your Region 3 reporter. I am currently a senior at Moore Traditional and have been involved in FBLA since my sophomore year. I became a member of FBLA because of my interest in the leadership opportunities that FBLA has to offer. While my time in FBLA has been very rewarding, my best FBLA memory would have to be becoming Regional Reporter. Aside from FBLA, I am also a member of the Men of Quality mentoring program. Activities I participate in are: basketball, football, baseball, track, and soccer for my school. Upon graduation, I plan to attend the University of Kentucky or EKU to major in business marketing in hopes of one day starting a business of my own. FBLA 2012 – 2013 NOTICE: FBLA invites all chapters to help design the T-shirts for the Region 3 Conference this year. Designs must be front/back and limited to two colors. The winning chapter will be recognized at region competition. All designs must be submitted to Region 3 Treasurer Brittany Chouhan no later than November 31st. IMPORTANT DATES: November 2-3 National Fall Leadership Conference November 30 Deadline to submit t-shirt designs REMINDER:  All chapters please do not forget to bring all old trophies to regional conference to be recycled. Don’t forget that cell phones are prohibited in prep, performance rooms and if confiscated will be given back to student once test/event is finished.  The format guide can now be used while taking the home site test  In those events that require an individual or team members to be sequestered in a holding room, the individual or team members must report at the beginning of the sequestered time. If an individual or team does not show up on time to be sequestered, then they are disqualified.  The Introduction to Parliamentary Procedure and the Parliamentary Procedure online tests will be taken from the 11th Edition, Robert’s Rules of Order and the FBLA National By-Laws only (no Kentucky by-laws questions)  All Rating Sheets now match National’s  Two national events are now listed in our Competitive Events Guidelines. One is the Virtual Business Challenge. The second is a pilot event called LifeSmarts. Information on both of these events are in the guidelines.
