Kitco Metals Places Rare Million Dollar Gold Coin for Sale
MONTREAL– March 31, 2016 – Kitco Metals, a global leader in bullion products and
information, announced today that it is making history by placing the world’s first million dollar
coin on the market.
In 2007, Canada’s Royal Canadian Mint released the first of an extremely limited number of the
largest, and purest, legal tender coin in the world: a 220-pound (100-kilogram) gold bullion
piece with a face value of one million Canadian dollars.
The million dollar piece is 99.999% pure gold bullion and was originally conceived as a unique
showpiece. “While most gold coins are produced with 9999 or 999 gold, this exceptional coin is made
of gold which is 99.999% pure. Only the Royal Canadian Mint has been able to produce a coin of this
purity,” says Bart Kitner, president and founder of Kitco Metals.
To date, only five of these majestic bullion coins have been produced. Kitco Metals is now
making it possible to purchase a rarity – it is the sole coin out of five for sale.
“We have appreciated the beauty of this coin, which really is a piece of history, for several

The effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse side is a work by celebrated Canadian
portrait artist Susanna Blunt. The reverse features an elegant hand-polished maple leaf design by Royal
Canadian Mint Senior Engraver Stan Witten.
