NEWFOUNDLAND POWER INC. “Go Paperless” CONTEST (THE “CONTEST”)
Official Contest Rules
1. ELIGIBILITY
The Contest is open to residents of Newfoundland who are at least nineteen (19) years of age as
of the date of entry and who, during the Contest Period, are registered or register for online
paperless billing with Newfoundland Power (“ebills”). Entrants must either be the Newfoundland
Power Residential account holder or a named user on the account that was opened or moved.
Employees of Newfoundland Power and their respective affiliates, subsidiaries or
advertising/promotional agencies, and the immediate family members (mother, father, brother,
sister, son, daughter, spouse) of, or persons residing in the same household as any such person,
are not eligible. All federal, provincial, territorial and local laws and regulations apply.
2. CONTEST PERIOD
Contest begins at 8:00 a.m. Newfoundland Time (“NT”) on March 1st, 2016 and ends at 11:59
p.m. NT on December 31, 2016 (the “Contest Period”). Closing dates for individual prizes are as
follows:

Monthly prizes of $100: March, 2016 to December, 2016 at 11:59 p.m. NT on each of the following
closing dates (each a "Monthly Contest Closing Date"):

After each of the above closing dates (collectively, the "Contest Closing Dates") the Contest will be
closed for the prizes available to be won during the respective prize period to which such Contest
Closing Date corresponds and entries received after such Contest Closing Date shall not be eligible
to win such prizes.
3. HOW TO ENTER
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY.
If you have a My Account profile, visit www.newfoundlandpower.com/ebills and click on the join
ebills link, also accessible from the online account transaction pages or from the My Account
summary page. Complete the form in full, check yes to have Newfoundland Power sign you up for
ebills paperless billing if you are not already signed up, and click the “Submit” button to be entered
in the Contest. If you do not have a My Account profile, you can create one at
newfoundlandpower.com and link your account information to your My Account profile. You can
also enter the contest by calling 1-800-663-2802 and switch to paperless billing. Persons who do
not meet the entry requirements described above may enter the contest by submitting by mail a
100-200 word essay titled “Go Paperless Essay Entry” explaining the benefits of paperless billing.
The entry must include the entrant’s full name, telephone number (including area code), mailing
address, and, if available, residential account number. Mail the entry to: Go Paperless,
Newfoundland Power Inc., PO Box 8910, St. John’s NL A1B 3P6.
All entries must be received within the Contest Period. LIMIT one (1) entry per person per
method during each Contest Draw Period. No third party entry or entry through
contest/sweepstakes service permitted. All entries become the property of Newfoundland Power.
Any individual who attempts or otherwise encourages, directly or indirectly, the entry of multiple
entries or false contact information under multiple identities, or uses any device or artifice to enter
or encourage, directly or indirectly, multiple or false entries, as determined by Newfoundland
Power, will be disqualified. In the event of a dispute about the identity of an entrant, the person
identified on the online entry form will be deemed the Contest entrant. Entrants may be required
to show official photo identification. With respect to any selected entry, the winner may be
required to provide Newfoundland Power with proof that the person is the entrant associated with
the selected entry. By entering this Contest, entrants agree to comply with and be bound by these
Official Rules and the decisions of Newfoundland Power, which are final and binding in all respects.
Failure to comply with these Official Rules may result in disqualification.
4. PRIZES
There are a total of 20 prizes available to be won valued at $100.00 each, one per winner (10
draws each for current ebills customers and new sign up entrants). The prize may be accepted as
an account credit or $100 Visa cash card. The $100.00 must be accepted as awarded and is not
transferable or convertible to cash. The Visa gift cards and account credit are as described and all
costs and expenses associated with the winners’ receipt and use of credits are the responsibility of
the winners. Newfoundland Power reserves the right to make substitutions in its sole discretion
should factors beyond its control make it unable to award a Visa gift card or account credit as
described as described in these rules.
5. SELECTION OF WINNERS
There will be 2 random draws conducted on a monthly basis to select two (2) entries from all
eligible entries received during the draw period. One prize draw will include new entries received in
the previous month (New Entries Draw) and the second will include all existing eligible entries
(Existing Entries Draw).

April 1st – April 30th, 2016 drawn on May 5th, 2016

May 1st – May 31st, 2016 drawn on June 6th, 2016

June 1st – June 30th, 2016 drawn on July 5th, 2016

July 1st – July 31st, 2016 drawn on August 5th, 2016

August 1st – August 31st, 2016 drawn on September 6th, 2016

September 1st – September 30th, 2016 drawn on October 5th, 2016

October 1st – October 31st, 2016 drawn on November 4th, 2016

November 1st – November 30th, 2016 drawn on December 5th, 2016

December 1st – December 31st, 2016 drawn on January 5th, 2017
*The Existing Entries Draw will be conducted on each of the days noted above and will include
entries received prior to the start date of the new entries draw.
The random draws will be administered by Newfoundland Power Customer Relations in St. John’s,
Newfoundland and Labrador. Chances of winning are dependent upon the total number of eligible
entries received. Newfoundland Power or its representative will attempt to contact each selected
entrant by phone, followed by a confirmation email to the address the entrant provided in the
online entry form (or mailed entry). If a selected entrant has not responded to the email within
five (5) business days, or is contacted but is deemed to be ineligible in Newfoundland Power’s sole
discretion, or is unable or unwilling to comply with these rules, that selected entrant will be
disqualified and another entry will be drawn. This process may be repeated until two (2) entrants
have been declared winners.
The validity of all Contest entries will be determined by Newfoundland Power, whose decisions and
interpretations on all matters relating to the Contest and these Official Rules are final and binding
in all respects. Newfoundland Power reserves the right to disqualify any participant or winner and
may refuse to award any prize to a person who is ineligible or has violated any rule, gained unfair
advantage in participating in the Contest, or obtained winner status using fraudulent means.
Before being declared a winner, each selected entrant must correctly answer, without assistance of
any kind, whether mechanical or otherwise, a skill testing question. Entrants that are selected will
be administered the skill-testing question upon selection and notification.
6. RELEASE
To be declared a winner, each selected entrant will be required to sign and return an eligibility and
release form confirming compliance with these Contest rules and acceptance of prize as offered;
releasing Newfoundland Power and their respective agents, subsidiaries, affiliates and
representatives with respect to injuries, accident, loss or damages relating to the Contest or the
awarding of the prize; and, except where prohibited, acknowledging Newfoundland Power’s and its
agents’, subsidiaries’ or affiliates’ right to publish and/or broadcast the winner’s picture, name,
address, voices and statements, including but not limited to “tweeting” his/her name at
www.twitter.com/nfpower and publishing his/her name on newfoundlandpower.com, without
further compensation other than the prize offered. If prize documents are not returned within 48
hours, or at Newfoundland Power’s discretion, the prize will be forfeited and awarded to an
alternate winner selected from all remaining eligible entries received during the Contest Period.
7. ERRORS, ETC.:
Newfoundland Power is not responsible for (i) entries which are incomplete or unintelligible; (ii)
telephone, technical, network, online, electronic, computer hardware or software failures of any
kind; (iii) incomplete, garbled or delayed Internet/email computer transmissions on account of
technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website, or any combination
thereof; (iv) any condition caused by events beyond its control which disrupts or interferes with
the Contest; or (v) any injury, loss or damage of any kind arising out of participant’s participation
in the Contest or the acceptance, possession or use of the prize, including without limitation any
injury or damage to participant’s or any other person’s computer relating to or resulting from
participation or downloading any materials in this Contest.
If for any reason, the Contest is not capable of running as planned or if the administration,
security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of the Contest is corrupted or adversely affected,
including by reason of infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention,
fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond its control, Newfoundland Power reserves the
right to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest and randomly select the winner from
previously received entries.
Newfoundland Power reserves the right to amend the terms of this Contest without prior notice if
any factor interferes with its proper conduct as contemplated by these rules.
8. PUBLICITY, PRIVACY & PRIZE NOTIFICATION:
By submitting an entry, entrant grants consent to Newfoundland Power to use and publish his/her
name, photograph, voice, and likeness in connection with the promotion of this Contest, inside and
outside of Canada (i.e. on newfoundlandpower.com and on social media tools), and entrants waive
any and all claims and/or rights to receive any royalties or other compensation for Newfoundland
Power’s use thereof, unless prohibited by law. Entrants’ information that Newfoundland Power
collects will not be disclosed to third parties, except as needed to the prize supplier for the purpose
of prize fulfillment.
Newfoundland Power is collecting the personal information on this Contest entry form to
administer the Contest in the manner described in the Contest rules. Please note that
Newfoundland Power may disclose the names and images of Contest winners inside and outside of
Canada (i.e. on newfoundlandpower.com and on Newfoundland Power social media sites) for
