Day 1 L
Lincoln, NE
Day 10 L
One of the continent’s most defining features is the
majestic ridge of the Rockies. Explore the northern part
of the range on a tour featuring Mt. Rushmore, Glacier
National Park, Lake Louise, and Victoria. Begin with
lunch at Brookville Hotel. Later, stop at the Homestead
National Monument in Nebraska, which chronicles the
epitome of the American Dream, the settlers who took
advantage of the Homestead Act in 1862.
Day 2 CB, L
Day 11 CB
Mitchell, SD
Rapid City, SD
If you’re looking for raw nature, it can be found at Badlands National Park. Visit this untamed wilderness,
with unexpected color variations and hidden clues about
America’s past. Current residents include bison and bighorn sheep. On our way to Wyoming, stop at famous
Wall Drug Store, open to travelers since the 1930’s.
Day 4 CB, L
Rapid City, SD
This morning, Mount Rushmore awaits! The most
recognized faces in America, these stone carvings will
inspire us with their size and detail. After lunch, visit a
work in progress, Crazy Horse. The world’s largest
mountain carving, the monument pays tribute to this
Native American leader. Stop at the Mt. Rushmore Gold
Factory to get an up close view of how the famous Black
Hills gold is formed through a 40 step process.
Day 5 CB, L, D
Medora, ND
Visit the North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame today,
honoring the men, women, and events that have made
extraordinary contributions to the horse culture
and western lifestyle of
North Dakota and the
Great Plains. Then, trace
Theodore Roosevelt’s
youthful experiences in
the Badlands at the Theodore Roosevelt National Park. Tour the first
log cabin he inhabited here, learn about the impact the
natural landscape of the area had on his later policies,
and view wildlife native to the Badlands. Enjoy dinner,
followed by an evening of entertainment that features
the best of the west. The Medora Musical experience
tells the story of patriots and wild west adventurers, set
to country and gospel favorites.
26
Kamloops, BC
Enjoy a float trip down the Athabasca River from Jasper,
experiencing the park from a fascinating perspective.
Then, follow the Thompson River through rolling plateaus
into the snowy peaks of the Monashee and Cariboo
Mountains, crossing into British Columbia.
Linger in Norfolk, Nebraska, this morning, exploring the
interesting Elkhorn Valley Museum. Featuring artifacts
of national and local interest, the museum’s most unique
exhibit highlights the life of the city’s famous native son,
Johnny Carson. After lunch in Norfolk, discover the
fascinating world of the ancient plains at Ashfall Fossil
Beds. Hundreds of intact skeletons give evidence of life
before a huge volcano eruption 12 million years ago.
Day 3 CB
Jasper, AB
Lake Louise has become symbolic of the quintessential
Canadian mountain scene. This alpine lake, known
for its sparkling blue waters, is situated at the base of
impressive glacier-clad peaks. Here, cruise for fourteen
glorious minutes in a gondola to one of Banff National
Park’s greatest views! From 6850 ft, the spectacular
scenery is ours to explore.
Day 12 CB
Day 6 CB, D
Great Falls, MT
We travel due west today, ending in Great Falls, a city on
the Missouri River, surrounded by mountains.
Day 7 CB, L
Missoula, MT
Capture the spirit of the great explorers at the Lewis
& Clark Interpretive Center this morning. Trace the
footsteps of these men as they encountered the native
people of the land as well as wildlife seen only in North
America. After lunch, see an artistic interpretation of the
west at the C. M. Russell Museum. Russell was more
than an artist. As a consummate Westerner, historian,
advocate of the Northern Plains Indians, cowboy, outdoorsman, writer, philosopher, and conservationist, he
shaped the way we see the West today.
Day 8 CB, L
Browning, MT
We have arrived at the “Crown of the Continent!” Glacier National Park is so impressive that it extends into
two countries, carrying two different names. Today our
journey will take us to the 3 ½ story historic Swiss chalet
styled McDonald Lodge, built in 1913 and nestled on the
southeast corner of Lake McDonald. We’ll enjoy the
scenery and lunch at the lodge before departing on a Red
Bus whose roll-back top is perfect for providing full views
of the stunning mountains, and the area’s signature Big
Sky. Experience the pristine forests, alpine meadows,
rugged mountains and spectacular lakes as our guide
shares the national history of this beautiful park.
Day 9 CB
Banff, AB
Rugged, windswept mountains rise abruptly out of
gentle prairie grassland in outstanding Waterton Lakes
National Park, the Canadian side of Glacier National
Park. Several different ecological regions meet and
interact in a landscape shaped by wind, fire, flooding,
and abundant plants and wildlife. Gather another point
of view on a shoreline cruise in the park, spotting a bald
eagle, bear, moose, deer, and mountain sheep.
Vancouver, BC
Journey above the roaring force of water rushing through
Fraser Canyon, near Vancouver, aboard the Hell’s
Canyon Airtram. Nature’s power is frightfully apparent
at this point, and the ride will be exhilarating.
Day 13 CB, L
Board a ferry to beautiful
Victoria, where we will lose
ourselves in the abundance
of color at Butchart Gardens. Over 100 years ago,
Jennie Butchart converted a
limestone quarry into a vivid
wonderland, creating a feast
for the senses and one of the
world’s premier landscapes.
