Rounding
Students will round numbers to the tens, hundreds, and thousands place.
Tens place:
63 will round to 60

Hundreds place:

Thousands place: 3,231 will round to 3,000
9,999 will round to 10,000
Steps for rounding:
1. Circle the digit in the place you are rounding to (tens, hundreds, thousands).

2. Draw an arrow to the number to the right of the circled number.

3. Use this number to decide if you round up or down. (Four is the boss of Seven .)
If you have a 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4, you round down. (The circled number stays the same.) If
you have a 5, 6, 7, 8, or 9, you round up. (The circled number is increased by one.)
