Participants will be visiting prominent Singapore companies with strong presence in Mongolia to learn about the local operations as well as the abundant business opportunities that have unfolded in Mongolia over the past few years. Mongolia Mongolia is expected to be the world’s fastest growing economy in the next five years. Its economy grew 6.4% in 2010 and 17.3% in 2011, and its GDP is expected to double in the next five years from US$ 5 billion in 2010, largely due to commodity exports to nearby countries. Mongolia's economy continues to be heavily influenced by its neighbours. Over the past years, Singapore and Mongolia have enjoyed friendly relations and developed fruitful cooperation in economic, social and other sectors. Today, Singapore is one of the largest trading partners of Mongolia in the Southeast Asian region. The total trade turnover between the two countries has increased from S$ 74 million in 2009 to S$ 104 million in 2011. Supported by: Financial Assistance Double Tax Deduction (DTD) The DTD Scheme for Market Development (S14B of the Income Tax Act) aims to encourage Singapore companies to expand their overseas markets. It allows for approved companies to deduct the eligible expenses incurred for approved projects twice against their taxable income. • Effective 1 April 2012 onwards, DTD will be allowed to businesses without prior approval from IE or STB on qualifying expenditures activities (including participation in trade fairs) and subject to a cap of S$100K per year of assessment.
