QUICK FACTS ON CO
WHAT IS IT: A colourless, odourless and tasteless gas.
SIGNS: Stuffy air, water vapour, backdraft and soot
from a fireplace.
SYMPTOMS: Headaches, weakness, nausea, vomiting
and loss of muscle control. They can be mistaken for
flu symptoms.
EFFECTS: If inhaled, carbon monoxide deprives the
blood of oxygen. Prolonged exposure can lead to
unconsciousness, brain damage or death.
CAUSES: Blocked or dirty vents, flues, chimneys and
furnaces, as well as improper ventilation of burning
fireplaces or woodstoves.
DEATHS: Approximately 200 per year.
PREVENTION: Annual inspection and cleaning of
furnaces, chimneys, fireplaces and other fuel-burning
equipment such as gas dryers.

World’s Largest Pumpkin Pie!!!
Pumpkin Potato Stampers
You will need:
Potatoes
Paper
Orange Paint
Glitter (Optional)
Pre cut the potatoes with a
pumpkin face as in photo. Give
each child a potato stamper,
piece of paper and paint.
The great pumpkin folk at New Bremen,
Ohio did it......again ! They broke their own
record for the World's Largest Pumpkin Pie.
On September 25, 2010, they baked a 3,699
pound pumpkin, far surpassing their prior
record of 2,020 pounds.
Amazingly, this pie was 20 feet in diameter
and weighed 3,699 pounds! What's the
recipe for a world record pumpkin pie? All
you need is 1,212 lbs of canned pumpkin,
2,796 eggs (233 dozen), 109 gallons of
evaporated milk, 525 pounds of sugar, 7
pounds of salt and 14.5 pounds of cinnamon.
