Update of news from the Diamond Creek Football & Netball Club
The seniors and reserves now have two weeks off for the bye this weekend and the Interleague games on the 21st May. This weekend the Under 19's will be in action at home with the
game kicking off 9.40am against North Heidelberg. Come along and see the future of our club in
action. I'm sure they will appreciate your support.
There is no fixtured netball this Friday night the 13th as the NNL square off against the Southern
Football Netball League at Parade College. The NNL will field both an open-age and under-19
team in its two representative fixtures. Diamond Creek is well represented in both teams with
Stacey Gannon, Jacqui Harrington, Bronwyn Taylor and Verhonda Smith in the Open Age team
and Kourtnee Baird, Georgia Bowkett, Beth Garlic, Lexi Giannakis, Chloe Gray, Chloe Lambert,
Cassie Lewis and Elosie Whitcroft in the Under 19 team. Brooke George is also the assistant
coach for both teams.
There is only limited training this week so there will be no meals or members draw at the
clubrooms this Thursday.

Ladies Day is now June 18th. It is always a great day so lock it in your diaries now! Ticket are

Players Function – Back to School is on Saturday 28th May. So time to dust off the old uniforms.
Reminder that the members draw will not be happening this week and will return on Thursday
19th. The draw will take place between 8:00 and 8:30 with $300 up for grabs as it jackpotted
from last week. Member needs to be present in rooms to collect or prize cumulatively jackpots
to following week.
Congratulations to this week’s Diamond 45 winner, Darren Smith, with 31 being the first number
drawn on Saturday night.

This top of the table clash was worthy of the status and was an enthralling game, unfortunately it did no
go out way this time. The first 2 quarters were tight hard contested football with nothing separating the
teams at the break. After the break we came out firing and gained some ascendancy. Our defence held
strong and the forwards shared the scoring. The last quarter saw us out scored 9 goals to 1 in a quarter
dominated by Hurstbridge resulting in our second loss for the season. We now have a couple of weeks
off to regroup and get back to our winning form.

Another top of the table clash and another fantastic game of football. It was a game that see-sawed and
could have gone either way. We were coming from behind into the last quarter and we had the majority
of the play even hitting the front at one stage. Unfortunately, we had several missed shots on goal in the
last 10 minutes of the game which let the game slip from our grasp.

With a dominant mid field, we lead the game all day. There were plenty of targets up forward with 9
contributors to the score. Overall it was a good team effort which will put us in good stead for the rest of
the season. We have North Heidelberg at home this weekend so come along and support the boys.
