Dr. Michele Claudette Reed
Dr. Michele Claudette Reed is a Board Certified Family Medicine Physician and a Managing Partner
of MS Family Medicine Health Care, P.C. with medical offices in Queens and Long Island, New York.
Dr. Reed serves as the Medical Director for The Congregational Church of South Hempstead and the
School District Physician for the Hempstead, Malverne and Roosevelt School Districts. She was
recently appointed as a spring 2014 Fellow to the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT
under the Department of Health and Human Services.
Since the tender age of four, Dr. Reed knew that she would one day be a doctor and has worked to
make tremendous strides for her community as an advocate for overall wellness and the prevention
of chronic diseases. In 2009, Dr. Reed co-founded First Things First, Foundation for Health and
Wellness, Inc., along with Sepia Owens-Villas, MPA, a not for profit that deals with health education
and disease prevention. The two also started The Girls Mentoring Program in partnership with the
Lakeview Public Library, a program for young girls that explores topics about health, education and
community service.
Dr. Reed is often called upon to speak on the matters of wellness and prevention. Her accolades include,

Community Leadership, New York Institute of Technology, Health Award, Hempstead NAACP,

Professional of the Year, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, and the CSEA Nassau Local, Dr. Martin Luther King
Award to name a few.
A pillar in her community, Dr. Reed is a Life Member of the Lakeview NAACP, a board member of
the Queens Chapter of the American Academy of Family Physicians, an Adjunct Clinical Assistant
Professor at New York Medical College and New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, an Executive
Board member of the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine Alumni Association, a Fellow of the
American Board of Family Medicine, a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and The
National Coalition of the One Hundred Black Women, Long Island Chapter, Inc.
Dr. Reed and her work have been featured on the Rachael Ray Show with Dr. Ian Smith and Sunny
Anderson of the Food Network, Government Technology Today Magazine, The New York Daily
News, Ebony Magazine, Heart and Soul Magazine, and BlackDoctors.org.
Dr. Reed received her undergraduate degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook
and her medical degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. She is a Long Island
native where she lives with her with her husband and twin sons.
