What our Community Church stands for

sharing
We believe in sharing in one
another’s lives - in the good times
and in the bad times. We encourage
people to support others through
prayer and practical help. We also
encourage individuals to join in the
fellowship and knowledge sharing
of house groups. Please read our
house group leaflet for more
information.
serving
We believe that everyone has a
unique contribution to make to the
local church, and we encourage
people to see it as their privilege
and responsibility to offer their
God-given abilities to serve others
in the church.
committed to those
outside the church
transforming
We seek to make a positive
contribution to our local
community. We do this by offering
our facilities to not-for-profit
groups; by running groups of all
ages and needs, and through
community action on a regular
basis and through special events.
supporting
We believe in helping other
individuals and causes outside
our church. We do this through
our financial giving, and in other
special circumstances.
evangelising
We believe that we have the message of
hope for a lost world, and that by inviting
people to commit to Jesus we are offering
them something that no amount of money
can buy.
leadership?
We are currently in an interregnum, which
means that we are without a permanent
Minister. However, we are blessed by a
number of members who are Ordained
Ministers and they are able to lead our
services. So, who is this ‘we’ that the leaflet
refers to so often?! It is the sum of its
members, but it is currently led by a team of
volunteers known as ‘Stewards’. This
Stewards group oversee both the spiritual
direction and the week to week operation of
the church.
What our
Community Church
stands for
ecumenical?
Our church is a caring, prayerful and
loving community, catering for people of
all creeds and races and denominations,
and all previous church experiences and
backgrounds. Our community have
previously come from Anglican, Baptist,
Methodist, United Reformed, Evangelical
and many other churches. Others have
come to know Jesus Christ right here.

Jesus
The Jesus we invite people to commit to is
the historical Jesus written about in the
Bible: the Son of God who became GodMan, who died on a cross for our sins, and
who rose from the dead that we might
have new life. We believe that by faith in
Jesus a person can get right with God.
commitment
We believe there is no more important
decision that a person can make than the
decision to commit one’s life to Jesus,
and if you haven’t made that commitment
already, sooner or later we will invite you
to make it! However, we encourage
people to understand what we are asking
them to commit to, for example by
attending an Alpha or similar course.
what does our
Community Church
stands for
if you want to discover what we really
care about and why we exist
then please read on…
our church aim is:
‘seeking Jesus
and making Him known’
maturity
We believe the initial commitment is only
just the start of a lifetime of commitment
– the commitment to become more like
Jesus. In other words, we hope people
will mature in their Christian faith. We do
this by teaching
and encouraging everyone to apply their
faith to every aspect of their lives
including work, leisure, finances,
relationships and time.
Maturity, we believe, flows from an
understanding of and a commitment to
God, to our church family, and to those
outside the church.
committed to God
the Bible
We believe that the Bible is the inspired
word of God, and therefore all that we
believe and teach has its roots in this
book. We seek to take the timeless
truths of the Bible and make them
applicable to modern day living.
worship
We believe that we are created for
God’s pleasure, and that we become
what we were meant to be as we learn
to worship the Creator. We teach
worship as a way of life, but in our
Sunday Services and in our small
groups we encourage people to
express their devotion to God in praise.
prayer
We are humbled that the God of the
universe wants to have a relationship
with us, and we believe that God has
given us the gift of prayer so that we
can develop that relationship.
committed to our church family
growing
We believe that we all have a part to
play in encouraging one another’s
growth in Christian maturity.
