The Plight of the Plague: Black Death Drawing

The Plight of the Plague:
Black Death Drawing
Today, your job is to depict the causes/effects of the Black Death
through a drawing of your own (i.e. not a computer-generated drawing).
To help you in your efforts, you'll use the information that you've learned
this week about the Catholic Church, the Crusades, and the Black
Death. Having taken on the identity of a medieval artist, remember that
you must work to create a scene that captures the time period and the
tragedy of the Black Death (i.e. what does everything look like, what
kinds of people/figures/symbols represent what life - and death - are
like, etc.). Good luck and be creative! Your specific tasks are outlined
below. Remember: your work must be done by hand!
YOUR TASKS:
1
Create an eye-catching title for your artwork.
2
Draw a scene depicting the causes/effects (or both) of the Black Death
and its impact on medieval Europe.
3
Your final product should follow the basic model below. Use your own
creative style, but be sure to include all of the necessary components.
FORMAT:
Element 1:
Title: what are you trying to convey?
Element 2
Visualization (artwork): what does the scene look like? What
are you depicting and what figures/symbols/etc., are part of
your work?
Element 3:
One-paragraph explanation (on back of drawing): what is the
message of your artwork? If you are hoping for future
generations to refer to your work in order to understand the
Black Death, what would they need to know?
