Naming
Water

bottle.
Please ensure all items of clothing
are named.
This enables teachers to return any
lost items quickly.
It is school policy that the children are only
allowed to drink water in the classrooms.
Coats
As we often go outside to complete various activities, your child
needs to have a waterproof coat
with them every day.
Homework
Hair
Long hair should be tied back,
off the face.
Any bobbles or hairbands worn should be
in the school colours of white, yellow or
blue.
General
Homework will be sent home on
Thursdays to be returned by the
following Tuesday.
Information
Fruit / Healthy Snacks
PE
PE kits need to be in school the first day after each
holiday.
It helps with your child’s independence if they can change
into their PE kit and back into school uniform without
adult help.
Please show them how to pull sleeves and trouser legs
back the correct way before they put items of clothes on.
Children with pierced ears will need to remove their
earing or cover them ready for the P.E. lesson
All the children are offered a piece of
fruit each morning. They also have the
opportunity to buy a healthy snack
during playtime from out tuck shop—
items range from 30p to 50p.
Reading
Reading books will be sent home weekly.
We encourage the children to read little and
often and we do not expect the children to
necessarily read a book each evening. Please
note down in your child’s reading log where
they have read up to and any comments you
feel may be beneficial.
Parent Helpers
During the term, there may be opportunities
for you to support the class on school outings
and activities. If you would be interested in
helping at any time, please let us know via
the school office. Your help is greatly
appreciated.
We would also appreciate any help with
sticking, filing, craft activities and baking. If
you have an hour to spare and would like to
get involved, please let us know.
Mathematics
This year, there will be a strong focus on mental
maths. Practising quick fire number facts at
home with your child will help to improve their
confidence in maths lessons. Looking at clocks,
discussing time intervals and dealing with
money would also be beneficial.
Handwriting
Please encourage your child to complete any
written activities using pencil and in a
cursive handwriting style.
When your child is writing, encourage them
to use the rules for writing to help them,
checking each sentence after they’ve
written it.
Bulletin
A celebration of this terms activities will be
updated regularly on our school website.
Look out for new information on Makewaves,
our school VLE (accessed from the homepage on
our website).
How you can help us
by supporting your
child’s learning
Homework
After discussing a homework task with your
child, where possible, please allow children to
complete activities independently. If there is a
week where your child has found an area
particularly difficult, please let us know and
we can go over this
in school.
