Middle Passage Account/Creative Writing Assignment
Imagine you are a participant onboard a slave ship rebellion. Write a first
person account of your experience. Your account should be at least one
page, double spaced, typed, and historically accurate.
The following points may be used as a guide:
1) Describe the conditions on board the slave ship
2) Why would you consider risking your life to take part in
a rebellion?
3) Describe how you were able to plot a rebellion.
4) Describe how you communicated with others who spoke a different
language to avoid alerting the ship’s crew.
5) Describe your emotions during the revolt.
6) Describe your emotions after having overcome your
oppressors.
