The Ski Report Here is what we are learning this week: Language Arts I can read short /u/ words with final consonant blends and suffixes. I can read Sight Words. I can spell short /u/ words. I can identify the main topic of a text. I can list key details from the text. I can ask and answer questions about a text. I can write a sentence with a capital at the beginning. I can write a sentence with a period at the end. I can identify telling sentences (statements) and asking sentences (questions). I can write statements. I can write questions. I can write a descriptive paragraph. I can listen to others. I can have a conversation with someone. I can ask and answer questions. Math I can solve addition equations and word problems by counting on. I can use the turn around rule to solve addition equations and word problems. I can identify pairs that make ten. I can compare numbers. I can decompose numbers within 10. I can collect and analyze data. I can use tally marks correctly and tell what each tally mark stands for. Science I can tell what living things need in order to survive. I can make observations and tell others about them. Social Studies I am a good citizen. I can follow rules and tell why they are important. I can be Respectful, Responsible, Ready. Just Right Bags Our Just Right Bags are in our binders. They have duct tape across the top. These should always have the Sight Word Board your child is working on, the Spelling Cards your child has been assigned, and a Just Right book your child has chosen from his/her leveled basket. There are 3 leveled Spelling lists in our room and they change Sight Word Boards as they pass them. Poetry Folders (Purple) These come home on Friday so your child can share the poems with you and are to be returned Monday. Math at Home Folders (Orange) These come home Monday and are to be returned Friday. The Keep at Home side will be for Family Letters. The Return to School side will contain homework that needs to be done by Friday and returned. West Branch is requiring these Math papers this year. 10/12-10/15 HW: Read for 20 minutes Please return Just Right Bags every day. Math Folders due back Friday. Poetry Folders go home Friday and come back Monday October 12-15: Book Fair-We go Mon. 14 Grandparents’ Night 6-8 15: Conference Night 16: No School 19: Research Due 22: Pumpkins Due 23: Pumpkin Science and Classroom Store 24: Harvest Party 4-7 26: Habitats Due 30: Classroom Zoo 2:15 Families are invited. All 1st Graders will be set up in the cafeteria and can be signed out at the end. I did not do October Book Orders due to Book Fair. Please note the time change for the Classroom Zoo. It now begins at 2:15 instead of 2:30. Thank you to all of the helpers and planners for one wonderful Stay After! The kids had a great time!! Thank you for sending in snacks! We should be good for this week, but may run low next week. If you are going to need help with the pumpkins or materials for the zoo project, please let me know and I will gladly help.
