We invite you to become a sponsor of Stratford`s

We invite you to become a sponsor of Stratford’s Canada Day 2017 celebration, Canada’s 150th
birthday.
In 2017, the Stratford City Centre Business Improvement Association (BIA) in partnership with
Stratford’s Sesquicentennial Ad-Hoc Committee will present a fabulous day long Canada Day
celebration for Stratford residents of all ages. Canada Day 2017 will provide a unique
opportunity for sponsors to connect and be recognized by the Stratford community and visitors
from the surrounding area.
The Stratford City Centre BIA, comprised of downtown businesses, has produced Canada Day
events for 17 years, with the assistance of government, community and corporate sponsors.
Stratford’s Sesquicentennial Ad-Hoc Committee is comprised of a group of local citizens who
have volunteered their time, resources and talents to present an exciting slate of 2017 special
events and legacy projects, and are focusing resources to help plan a day long Stratford
celebration in 2017. Both are committed to producing an exciting, memorable event to
celebrate our pride and thanks to being Canadian.
The Canada Day celebration begins on Veterans Drive Parkland with a 15 km bike ride around
Stratford, a short 5 km family ride around Lake Victoria organized by Cycle Stratford, as well as
a fun run around Lake Victoria organized by the YMCA. Following these two events, breakfast
kiosks will be provided by the Stratford and District Agricultural Society and the Slow Food
Market. The Master of Ceremonies, Eddie Mathews, will then begin a morning of youth
performers, introducing youth groups to showcase talents in dance, karate, fencing, music, and
more! In addition, a petting zoo will be available to delight young and old, and old-time picnic
games, like 3-legged races, egg races and potato sack races will be organized and managed by
the Stratford YMCA Youth Leaders.
Following the morning events, the Market Square Canada Day celebration begins. Highlights of
the afternoon celebration include the introduction and unveiling of Stratford’s Sesquicentennial
Legacy Sculpture for Market Square as well as performances by members of the Stratford
Festival Performers. Artistic Director, Antoni Cimolino and Mayor Dan Mathieson will present
the annual Bronze Star Awards that recognize individuals on a national or international scale
who have contributed profoundly to the City or to Canada. Up and coming youth talent, Kolton
Stewart, will perform followed by our local favorites, Dan Stacey & the Black Swans.
Once again, the Market Square Festivities will include many activities for all children, such as
cupcake decorating by the Girl Guides, face painting, inflatable rides, clowns Bogle and Toast
and a craft tent. Alongside all these activities will be a bounty of local food vendors serving
delicious meals.
The annual Canada Day Market Square celebration is partially funded by the City of Stratford,
Heritage Canada and sponsored by approximately 20 local businesses. We urge you to become
one of our 2017 sponsors. Sponsors have the opportunity to participate in the events, joining
the audience in our reserved sponsor seating. Sponsors are recognized on 10,000 bookmarks
distributed throughout the school district, on display signs at our performance stages
throughout the event, during our radio interviews, on the Sesquicentennial Committee Website
www.stratford150.ca , the Canada 150 Stratford Events Calendar hosted by the Stratford
Tourism Alliance, as well as on our social media and print materials.
On the following pages, sponsorship opportunities are described and the benefits of each in
more detail. Please do not hesitate to contact Lissa Lichti for more information. Lissa can be
reached by phone 519.949.2244 or email [email protected].
We urge you to become one of our 2017 sponsors, and hope you find a sponsorship level that
will be a good fit for your organization. We look forward to working with you to produce our
best Canada Day!
Warm Regards
Kimberly Richardson, Chair, Stratford Ad Hoc Sesquicentennial Committee
Rob Russell, Chair, City Centre BIA
