LEKSTROOM
Introduction
By order of Lekstroom Transport B.V. a testing program has been carried out in their
own workshop in order to test the modifications on the winches 1999/1 and 1999/2
since these winches were modified in 1999 by the maintenance staff of Lekstroom
Transport from electric drive to hydraulic drive.
A choice has been made for the mounting of 350 metres long wires and an SWL of
110 Kn and consequently the hydraulic system has been adapted to a working
pressure of 134 Bar. This was necessary in connection with the needed pull, the
length of the wires and the rope speed.
In order to be able to use the winches in case a higher pull force might be necessary,
new wires have been mounted on 29-8-2001 which have an SWL of 175 Kn and a
length of 275 metres and the hydraulic system has been adapted to a maximum
working force of 210 Bar.
General
The test has been carried out in Lekkerkerk on 29th August 2001 at 16.00 hours.
The winches were welded on the pontoon “Liesbeth” and the test was attended by
the following companies.

Test
Test setup
The winches were welded on deck of a pontoon; two slings were attached to the
bollards and attached with a 25 Kn lock to a calibrated weight indicator. On this
indicator a “polyprop” wire was attached and at this end the winch wire.
Procedure
The winches have been tested in three runs at 100 Bar, 150 Bar and 210 Bar on
“double work” on the bottom of the winch and three runs on top of the winch with 275
metres wire at “single work”. The factor for “double work” is 4,2
Results
The results of the three runs (force) have been averaged for each combination.

Conclusion
After the test the winches have been visually checked for damage and no damage had
been appeared on both the winches. They are ready for use up to 161,3 Kn
