Surface area calculation of hollow-core slabs S U R F A C E A R E A C A L C U L A T I O N O F H O L L O W - C O R E S L A B S The principles outlined in these instructions are used to calculate the surface area A of hollow-core slabs, which is used for price calculation of slabs. These principles can also be used for calculating the surface area of shell slabs installed in hollow-core slab lines. The surface area of un-cut hollow-slabs (Figure 1) is calculated according to the formula A=1,2xL (m2). The surface area of longitudinal sections of the slabs (Figure 2) with a width of b>600 mm is calculated according to the formula A=1,2xL (m2). Slabs with a width of b£600 mm are calculated according to the formula A=0,6xL (m2). Bevelled edges or openings will not be reduced from the surface area of a slab (Figure 3).
