Research Programme
Recent research is focused on the surfaces of metal oxide materials (e.g. TiO2, Co3O4, etc) and
their interfaces with water and aqueous solutions using first principles electronic structure
calculations and ab initio Molecular Dynamics simulations. The main goal is to understand the
detailed microscopic mechanisms of photovoltaic and photocatalytic processes relevant to
environmental remediation and energy applications, and how these mechanisms are related to the
fundamental structural and electronic properties of the materials and their interfaces.
