About The Ban*
Immigration:
o
o
o
A 90-day hold on immigration from seven countries in the Middle East and
North Africa: Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Yemen
Does not include countries from which actual terrorists have killed
Americans since 9/11 (oh, and conveniently that our current Commander in
Chief does business in)
Gives the Director of Homeland Security 30 days to add any additional
countries to the immigration ban
Refugees:
o
o
Suspension of the American Refugee Program for 4 months while
application and screening processes for refugees goes under review
Suspends Syrian refugees from entering the U.S. indefinitely

NY Reps Who Oppose The Ban
o
o
Nydia Velázquez (D) NY-7 and Jerrold Nadler (D) NY-10:
“The president’s executive order is mean-spirited, ill-conceived, and
ill-advised. The order almost banned a man from entering the
country who has worked for the United States government for 10
years, who risked his life to help us and to help our troops, and who
loves our country. This should not happen in America.”
Louise Slaughter (D) NY-25: “The president’s executive order is
unconstitutional, immoral, and makes our country less safe. I will
not allow our refugee admission program to be decimated and
refuse to sit quietly as the president implements a de facto Muslim
ban. This is not who we are, and I will continue using all possible
means to prevent this executive order from being implemented.”
NY Reps Who Support The Ban
o
o
o
Lee Zeldin (R) NY-1: “I support the temporary entry restriction from
certain nations until the administration, Congress and the American
people know with confidence that any individual being granted
admission does not pose a threat to our security.”
Daniel Donovan (R) NY-11: “President Trump's decision is in
America's best interest, and I support exploring safe zones in the
region to protect innocent life.”
Chris Collins (R) NY-27: “It's not a religious thing. I get a little
frustrated with the folks who don't like Trump trying to make
something into something it's not. President Trump promised to
make America safe again and his executive order aims to ensure
we know who is entering our country.”
