Club Descriptions
Name: A Creative Mind
Purpose: To inform art, music, and literature students about job opportunities and
scholarships. To bring more creativity into our community and school activities.

Purpose: Our mission is to reduce stress levels for students by providing activities,
workshops, lectures, and more as well as guidance to available resources upon request
and availability.

Name: African Cultural Society/African Student Club
Purpose: This organization is meant to promote awareness of the historic cultural
diversity of Africa, consider contemporary issues in Africa, and examine the impact of
African cultures in the development of present day American culture.

Name: African Scholars Alliance
Purpose: The purpose of ASA is to assist in preparing, relating, graduation, and
transferring African ancestry students who are currently enrolled in Sacramento City
College. Additionally the ASA is committed to educating club members and the campus
community at large regarding vital issues affecting the lives of African ancestry people:
culturally, globally, politically, educationally, socially, economically and spiritually. To the
end, the ASA will plan present and promote activities and events designed to enhance
culturally awareness, to provide student support and community connections, and to
assist students in retention and transfer opportunities.

Name: Amnesty International SCC Chapter
Purpose: Amnesty International is a global movement opposing injustice and promoting
human rights. The Amnesty International Club at Sacramento City College will engage
in education and advocacy on behalf of human rights for all people- regardless of race,
religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation or gender identity.

Name: AMSA (American Medical Student Association)
Purpose: To help students in the medical field by offering volunteer work, meetings with
professionals in the field, attending conferences. We plan to help mold students by
introducing them to the public and the active community.

Name: Black Student Union
Purpose: Our mission is to promote unity, pride and cultural awareness of Sacramento
City College and to promote social interactions between students, faculty, and alumni
and also to help aid in the efforts to improve the welfare of the community.

Purpose: To educate more people about history of hip-hop and its dance.

Name: Brown Issues
Purpose: Educate Sac City students about community issues pertaining to the
Latino/Latina community, as well as working with one another to become positive
leaders and role models. Finally, we will strive to set up after school programs in local
middle schools and high schools.

Purpose: To expose students to a wide variety of fields and professionals in business
and to help them build and develop skills necessary for taking full advantage of job
opportunities.

Name: Campus Advance
Purpose: To provide service opportunities for all Sacramento City College (SCC)
students. Being a Christ0based organization, we will also provide many faith building
events on and off campus to help students find, establish, develop and refine a deeper,
personal relationship with Jesus. Campus Advance will be working closely the
Sacramento Metro Church of Christ (SMCC) as well as the non-profit HOPE worldwide.
Both SMCC and HOPE worldwide will be working together with Campus Advance to
help accomplish its goals. As the Bible states, “if a man shuts his ears to cry of the poor,
he too will cry our and nit be answered” (Proverbs 21;13 NIV); Campus Advance wants
to inspire students at SCC to hear, listen, and respond to the needs of our communities
– to be inspired to helping the poor, developing a deeper heart for the poor and needy,
and doing do through the inspiration of the Bible and collaboration with different
organizations. As a Christ-based organization, Campus Advance also has a goal to help
spread the gospel of Christ by teaching, preaching, and studying the Word of God and
develop God’s righteousness within today’s college students for glory of God now and
forever.

Purpose: Campus Crusade for Christ exists to provide regular opportunities to study
and discuss the Bible, worship, and pray, all in a group setting, which also provides
opportunities for fellowship, encouragement and spiritual development among
members. We seek to be a resource to the student body by offering opportunities to

Purpose: To celebrate Chinese culture, including but not limited to its history, cuisine,

Chinese language learners.

Purpose: Provide a place for people to discover and grow a relationship with god
through bible study teaching and fellowship with one another.

Purpose: City Farm Club would like to promote food security, bring awareness to food
justice and sustainability issues, engage others in food-related issues and provide an
environment for hands-on learning projects. We will accomplish this through seasonal
plantings, workshops, assisting the Early Childhood Education Center’s gardening
efforts, and events on campus.

Purpose: The purpose of this organization will be to teach Deaf culture, promote

Name: City Vets
Purpose: The Veterans Club will be an organization neutral on all political and social
issues other than those directly pertaining to veterans. The club’s main purpose is to
pursue interests and accomplishments to the benefit of Veterans and interested parties
to inform them on Veteran pertinent issues and offer opportunities for continued
community service. The Veterans Club shall operate like a business and by business
principles to the benefit of its members’ interest and needs.

Purpose: To foster, develop, and promote the game of soccer at Sacramento City
College and the Los Rios Community College District. To develop and encourage high
soccer standards in recreational and competitive play. To promote organize and control
team competition at all age levels in both recreational and competitive levels. To assist
in the development of sportsmanship, good fellowship, and community spirit through
involvement in the game of soccer.

Purpose: Promote interest among students who are interested in careers in public
education. Provide members with opportunities for developing personal growth and
professional competence. Provide opportunities for gaining an understanding of the
history, ethics, and programs of the education profession. Provide opportunities for
participating in cooperative work on the problems of the profession and the community.
