the 30th An
Our school is 30 years old. We
had many celebrations. Students
enjoyed the carnival on 23rd December,
2013. This is what some P3 students
thought of the carnival.
Leung Yuk Wah, Claire P3E
We had our 30th Anniversary School Carnival on 23rd
December, 2013.
I went to school at half past two in the afternoon and stayed
for an hour. We played many special games there, like face
painting and magic balloons. It was fun. I won some candy,
pens, pencils and books. I felt happy because I shared my
gifts with my friends.
I want to be the game booth helper next year.
Chan Yat Fung, Ellis P3B
My school’s 30th Anniversary was last year. There were many activities to
celebrate it. One of the special events was the School Carnival on 23rd
December. Since it was my first school carnival, I went there with my
mum to have some fun.
On that day, we saw a lot of visitors in the school playground. I played many games and my mum
chatted with teachers happily. I also went to a stall to have face painting. I got a snowman on my
face. It was beautiful.
After that, we went to watch a talent show. Many pupils performed magic tricks and sang on stage.
Their performances were great.
Then, we took a photo with my class teacher, Miss Ng, in
the school hall. To get the photo, we donated money to
charity. I thought it was very meaningful.
At noon, we left school and went home. We felt tired but
we had so much fun.

Wan Ching Fai, Ivan P3D
My mother, brother and I joined the 30th Anniversary
School Carnival. It was held to celebrate the 30th
anniversary of S.T.F.A. Ho Yat Tung Primary School. It
was held in the school.
When we stepped into the school entrance, we felt excited
and impressed by the school band. To my surprise, I found
that there were many game booths in Playground B. What a
fun-filled scene! I got really excited.
After the opening ceremony, I rushed to Playground A
to play my favourite games, Pony Ride and the Bouncy
Castle. There were two long queues because these games
were very popular. It took us a long time to wait in the
queue. I thought it was worthwhile because it was a lot of
fun to jump on the bouncy castle and ride on a ‘pony’.
Then we went to the Crazy Sale Corner near the
table tennis tables. We bought a lot of things, such as
stationery, toys, second-hand DVDs and storybooks.
Finally, we played interesting games at the game
booths in Playground B. We had a lot of fun.
Chow Yee Tung, Natalie P3A
The 30 th Anniversary
School Carnival was on
23 rd December. There
were a lot of games for
us to play. We played
three games happily.
First, we played ‘Rainbow Balls’. Two
players needed a ball and a board to play
this game. One player needed to write
some words on the board.
The other player needed to throw ball if
the word was spelled correctly. This game
taught us how to spell words.
The second game was called ‘Draw’. We
needed to take a picture. We used some
sand to make the pictures. It was very
pretty. I made a picture of a cute girl. It
was colourful.
Thirdly, we went to watch the ‘Talent
Show’. Many pupils sang songs and played
the piano for us. They were excellent. I
enjoyed watching the show.
Lee Lik Hang, Nick P3C
Chau Cheuk Lok, Ivan P3A
It was cold and sunny at the 30th Anniversary School
Carnival. I met my friends Jeff and Thomas at the school
gate at ten o’clock. I felt very happy because there
were many games. There were many students in the
playground. We lined up in front of the game booths.
After fifteen minutes, we could play the games. It was fun.
At eleven o’clock, I bought a bowl of fish balls and a
carton of lemon tea. Then I took a rest in the covered
playground. At half past eleven, we rode on inflatable
ponies. I felt excited. I was the champion.
Finally, we played on the slide. I felt very happy and I
hope we can also have a school carnival every year.
The 30 th Anniversary
School Carnival was on
23 rd December, 2013.
It was cool and sunny.
It was on exciting day.
Students went to school
with their parents. I
joined the carnival with my dad and mum. I
took photos with the principal. She is kind,
friendly and lovely.
After I took off my shoes, I ran onto the
bouncy castle. However, I fell down on it. It
was so soft and I could not keep jumping. I
bounced and bounced! At that time, I was
called ‘Mr Bounce’. It was so exciting. When
the time was up, I felt very tired. I came out
and bought some food for charity. I ate a
lot. At twelve o’clock, we went home. The
30th Anniversary School Carnival was fun!

In The Past
Since this is our 30th
anniversary, P4
students wrote about
our school 30 years
ago and 30 years in
the future.
Ho Yat Tung in 1984
Wong Kwan Mei, Ada P4E
Do you know what S.T.F.A. Ho Yat Tung Primary
School was like 30 years ago? I know some things
but not everything. Let me tell you what I know!
In 1984, PE uniform shorts were white, not red. They
just had two lines on both sides. I remember that
the summer PE uniform was a T-shirt and trousers.
The T-shirt has remained the same over the past 30
years. However, I think wearing trousers in summer
is so odd.
I know that there were fewer extracurricular
activities. Only a few choices were available in the
past. In 1984, there were only six extracurricular
activities. However, we have a lot of activities now,
such as dancing classes and choir. I think they are
interesting.
Now I am guessing. I think the classrooms in 1984
were very simple. There were no computers or
projectors. Now, we have a projector on the ceiling
and a computer in the teacher’s desk. We also have
three fans and two air conditioners. That’s great!
There are about 30 students in each class now but
I think each class in 1984 was crowded with forty
students!
Now I am guessing about the time the children
went to school in 1984. I know they had half-day
schooling. They had two parts, one in the morning
and the other in the afternoon. I think the morning
classes were from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Am I
right?
I think there were more teachers in 1984 as there
were two half-day schools working in the same
school building. Besides, I think the teachers in the
past were stricter than today’s teachers, who are
friendly and kind.
How about the lessons? Nowadays, we study
Chinese, English, Maths, General Studies, Art,
PE and Computer Studies. But previously, there
were three parts in General Studies. They were
social studies, science and health education. I think
students learnt more in the past but the exams and
tests were much harder.
These are my guesses and what I know. Am I right?
Wong Wai Lap, Marcus P4D
Thirty years ago, Ho Yat Tung Primary School was established. The
Principal, teachers and students were excited.
In the past, there were no air-cons or computer rooms. It was very hot
in summer with no air-cons. They had many Englsh activities, just like
today. Students went home for lunch.
Now, the school is bigger than in the past. There are air-cons and
computer rooms. Now we need to have lunch at school so we go
home later.
I am happy at school because we have many activities. My school
gives me much fun. We can make new friends and play games here. I
love my school very much.

Ho Yat Tung in 2034
See Ka Wun, Calvin P4B
Hello everyone! I’m now travelling 30 years into the future at Ho Yat
Tung Primary School in a time tunnel. Ready, 3, 2, 1, go!!!
Wow! There are 32 robot teachers in the class. Each teacher is working
with one student. They seem very enthusiastic. Let me see… they are
learning about comparatives in English.
'Ring! Ring!' Now, there’s a computer lesson. The robots are taking computers out of their bodies. ‘John,
you should learn how to open a Galaxy file.’ ‘Mary! Don’t peek at others’ work.’ The robots are very serious.
Every student is hardworking too. I think they will get good marks in their tests.
Oh! It’s recess now. Every student takes out their phone and checks WhatsUp. It’s similar to our WhatsApp
today. A student says, ‘Nowadays, if there’s a school that doesn’t allow students to check WhatsUp, no one
will go there.’ It seems they are happy to have entertainment after learning!
This really is an exciting trip to Ho Yat Tung Primary School 30 years later.
Chan Kwan Yee, Kylie P4C
Do you want to know about our school in 2034? I think the school will be
great.
I think we won’t need to use books. E-books will replace them. We won’t
need to wear uniforms either. We can wear casual wear. We won’t need
any teachers because robots will teach us. Then the school won’t need
to pay any money to teachers.
Also, I hope the school will have automatic doors and windows. We
won’t need to open and close them by ourselves. It is very convenient. I
hope we can study in a comfortable school in 2034.
Chan Yan Ki, Joanna P4A
In 2034, S.T.F.A. Ho Yat Tung Primary School will have more students.
We will do all our homework on computers. We won’t wear school
uniforms. Our lessons will be on the beach, in country parks and on
mountains. Sometimes we will study at school so our classrooms will
be bigger.
We will read e-books. Hurray! Students can read books easily! I am so
happy for Ho Yat Tung in 2034.

An Exciting Day At School
Chow Tse Huen, Stephenie P5D
Something exciting happened today in our school. When I was having
Mr. Young’s lesson, a dragon came in and said, ‘I will eat you.’ Miss Chan
said, 'Run for your lives!' We all ran away fast but the dragon chased us.
We ran faster and faster.
When we were at the playground, the dragon was really angry. It said, ‘I’m
so hungry. I need to eat you now.’
Luckily, Miss Chan had an idea. She bought some food at the tuck shop and
threw it to the dragon. It ate the food and flew away.
Sharon Lo P5B
Jess was a student in Class 5B. She was flying around the classroom using
her superpowers when her classmates were waiting for the teacher.
‘Boom! Dong!’ Suddenly, she heard a big noise and saw
a huge shadow coming closer and closer. ‘Argh! There’s
a Godzilla outside!’ shouted Amy, who sat next to the
window. Everyone was screaming loudly. All of them were
scared except for Jess. She said, ‘Calm down everyone. Stop
screaming!’
All of a sudden, Jess flew out and become Captain Underpants. She
kicked Godzilla’s hip and knocked it down. Godzilla was beaten and ran away quickly.
The whole school clapped their hands, including the teachers. They were excited and grateful that
Jess had saved their lives.
Wu Lok Yiu, Yoyo P5A
Last Monday morning, I had recess in the playground. When I was eating some cookies,
a brown ant came up to me. He said, ‘Hey girl, can you come with me? We need your
help.’ I was very surprised because the ant could speak English very well!
I followed him and saw a very small castle at the corner of the playground.
It was very beautiful. The castle was made of gold. The ant said, ‘This
castle is for our king. Now, we need food for winter. So, can you give
your cookies to us?’ I thought for a minute and replied, ‘Okay! They are
quite cheap. I don’t mind.’ ‘Thank you very much,’ said the little ant.
It was a funny day for me today.
12
Lee Tze Yan, Eliza P5A
Yesterday, I was reading in the quiet library with my classmates when the sky
became darker and darker. A giant bear came in! This huge animal gave me
a shock.
We ran out of the library. The bear said, ‘I am very hungry now. Give me
some fresh meat.’ My nice class teacher, Miss Chan, said politely, ‘Sorry, Mr.
Bear. I can’t give you fresh meat.’ She called the police but the bear grabbed
her mobile phone. It also took one of my classmates up in the air.
‘Help! Help!’ shouted the boy. Mr. Happy, the headmaster of our school, called
the police. They came quickly. They fired their guns. After a while, the bear
became a small and cute teddy bear. The teachers thought we were very lucky. Mr. Happy took
the teddy bear away at last.
Although the big bear was scary, it was an unforgettable day for me.
Lum Wing Tung, Hazel P5C
It was Halloween today so I pretended to be a scary ghost.
I went to the 5C classroom to find my classmates. They were doing
some Halloween activities. They dressed up in some scary clothes. I went
into the classroom and shouted, ‘Wooo!’ They thought I was a real ghost.
The students screamed and ran away.
I thought they were all silly. I chased them upstairs and downstairs. They
were very scared and someone was crying. I laughed and said, ‘Happy
Halloween!’
To Shing Hei, Steven P5B
I know a very very scary story about our school.
There was a girl vampire who lived in our school’s tuck shop. I was
very worried about her because I thought she would come out one
day.
This morning, I was eating while I was listening to music at school.
Suddenly, I saw a huge, black shadow coming. I was terrified so I hid in the
toilet but the shadow found me. It was the vampire. I screamed. My class
teacher, Mr. Handsome, heard me scream. He changed into Captain America
and caught the vampire.
‘Steven! Steven!’ Miss Chan called me to wake up. It was a dream. She
punished me because I was sleeping in class.

How about you?
Miss Wong is a great teacher.
She is very funny. Her stories
are very interesting and she
often tells jokes. She is a
teacher who cares for and talks
with us. She also plays games
with us. If we are absent from
school for a long time, she will
phone us to see if we are okay.
At school, she teaches English
and Art. She has to have
meetings and teaches students in
after-school activities. Miss Wong
is very artistic. All the artwork she
does is very beautiful. Of course,
she teaches us the technique too.
Her way of doing things makes
me think a lot.
In her spare time, Miss Wong
t a k e s c a re o f h e r ro o f t o p
garden. She is really busy
so she can’t always see her
friends.

My favourite teacher is Miss To. She has long hair, is thin and beautiful.
She is very decent too. My classmates and I like her very much.
Miss To likes kids. Her teaching style is interesting. Sometimes, when we
learn a new passage, she plays games with us. Such games make us feel
excited. Our classmates like English very much. She is a wonderful teacher.
Miss To is also kind. When I was in hospital, she called my mum and cared about me. I am lucky to
be her student. However, I will go to secondary school soon. I will miss her very much.

My favourite teacher
is Miss Man. She
is nice and kind.
She has long curly
hair. Her eyes are
small and beautiful.
She wears a pair of
glasses. It looks good. She always smiles sweetly.
In Primary 5, Miss Man often had lunch with my
class. She often told some jokes and chatted with
us. She always makes me laugh and cheers me up.
Miss Man takes care of us. Apart from studies, she
chats to me about my life and secondary school
choices. She encourages us too. After tests, she
would encourage us to do better next time.
Although she has not taught me, I really like her
very much.

A new teacher came
to our school last
year and his name
is Mr. Ng. He is as
tall as a bookshelf
and wears big
black glasses. He
also has fluffy black hair. He was a secondary
school teacher before coming here. He teaches
Chinese, drama and singing in our school.
At first, I thought he was a terrifying teacher
but after a month, I changed my mind! He tells
us amusing stories in Chinese lessons about his
unforgettable experiences. Although it is hard
to understand 2,000 years of Chinese culture, I
enjoy his lessons very much.
In class field trips, he buys us appetizing treats
like Kinder chocolate bars. He plays crazy and
exciting games too.
He’s a talented football player. He has won
many medals and trophies. He also has a quiet
side. He is a good singer and was a judge in a
singing competition too.
So that’s why he’s my favourite teacher.

I admire my English teacher, Miss Lee. She is kind. She has black hair
and a small mouth. I think she is cute because her front teeth are small
and she looks like a little rabbit!
She wanted to be a teacher because she has always liked children.
Every day, she teaches us English patiently. I can learn a lot of words,
comprehension and writing skills from her. She helps me a lot.
I think she does well in school. Although she is tired after teaching us,
she still tries her very best to improve us. 15
