Year group: 6 Time Allocation: 6 weeks Literacy/Communication: Our English we will be creating a range of texts linked to the Stone Age: A persuasive leaflet to visit Stonehenge A flashback narrative: back to the Stone Age A Non Chronological report about the Stone Age Date: Spring 1 2017 Stanstead Nursery and Primary School Geography: .We will be locating where Stonehenge is on a map as well as other main cities in the UK. Theme Title How have we evolved since the Stone Age? Numeracy: In Maths we will be using a timeline to work out differences between different times (Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age). We will be using a range of problem solving skills to apply our skills and knowledge of different strands of Maths Teacher: Tanya Smith History: We will be using research skills to explore what life was like in the Stone Age: Where did people live? What did people eat? Art and design: We will be creating pieces of cave art, WHY? Stone Age tools and jewellery. To explore early history . PSHE: We will be following the SEAL theme of Going for Goals. We will also be discussing staying safe online, creating top tips for anyone one who goes onto the internet. Science: We will be learning about Evolution and Inheritance. The class will be exploring how living things have changed over time. We will gain an understanding of the use of fossils to provide information about living things. Computing: In computing, we will be creating Stone Age games using programming. WOW The class will have an Inspiration Day at the beginning of the theme, which will include dying materials, cave art and outdoor learning. Music: We will take part in a drumming workshop and link- ing this to our Stone Age dance. Using the apple macs, we will use garage band to create a composition using the drum sounds. PE: In our P.E lessons we will be creating a Stone Age dance. We will also, in our second session of each week, be learning cricket skills.
