When Juan leaves for school, his lunchbox weighs 3 kilograms. When
Juan returns from school, his lunchbox weighs 1 kilogram. How many
grams lighter is Juan’s lunchbox after school?

Subtract to find the difference: 3 kilograms - 1 kilogram =
2 kilograms
