expectations as outlined in new curriculum/new assessments.
Word Recognition
 Decoding ,fluency, accuracy, stamina, expression and enjoyment

Children need to be familiar with the comprehension question formats of formal assessments and
understand how to answer these questions. Risings Progress in Reading tests have been utilised
for this reason.
Planning / Recording Outcomes

Develop a carousel of activities / timetable
School Pupil Tracker must be updated at least every fortnight.
Activities

Every reading lesson should begin with children reading their reading books
This will allow you to monitor who has and has not brought their reading books back and provide further
opportunity for reading for pleasure. Adults must monitor that children are returning their books
EVERYDAY Class teachers must speak to parents of children that do not return their books every day.
