Texas Regions Project

Objective: To help you become more familiar with the different regions of Texas.
Directions:
1. Each of you will complete a Texas Regions foldable of the 4 geographic regions of
Texas and a Native American Tribes of Texas chart for a HW grade.
2. Next, I will put you into groups of 4 or 5 and assign a region to your group.
3. Your group is then responsible for a 5-7 minute presentation over your region. We will
have at least 2 days in the library to work on the project, so use your time wisely.
4. There are many ways to present you region:





Create a PowerPoint or Google Slides presentation
Format it on a tri-panel board (available at Office Depot, Staples, etc.)
Create a “travel brochure” for your region.
Create a Prezi.com presentation or another web-based app presentation
If you have another creative idea, check with me.
5. Topics to include on your Texas Regions foldable and Native American chart, and in
the presentation of your region:






Major cities (current population, date founded, important historical events, major
industries, sports teams or universities, etc.)
Major landmarks and physical features (rivers, lakes, mountains, tourist
attractions, historical landmarks, etc.)
Main economic activities (businesses and industries like ranching, farming, etc.)
Native American tribes that settled in the region (years the tribe lived in Texas,
culture, customs, lifestyle, food, shelter, etc.)
Several images illustrating the information you put into your presentation (either
drawn by hand or copyright-approved images from the web)
A citations page in the proper MLA format for your information and images
(most of you learned this as 6th graders! Use NoodleTools or another citation
website)
Make sure you try your best and be creative!
