Students can stop in throughout the day during lunch and free periods. (26) Israel Culture Day Do you like falafel, hummus and pita? Do you want your own free hamsa bracelet or learn how to write your name in Hebrew? Come to Israeli Culture Day! On January 31st, Hebrew Honor Society and Israel Club are hosting the annual Israeli Culture Day! Bring money to buy Naf Naf Grill where we will be selling falafel ($6) and shawarma ($7) sandwiches. Be sure to stop by in the blocks to check out the many fun, fast, and free activities!! (26) Summer Science Program Summer science program information is coming in--please check the bulletin board behind the X hall elevator to learn what is available. Currently applications are available in X117 for the 49th Dr. Bessie F. Lawrence International Summer Science Institute from July 2-30 at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel (due March 1st). Check out www.summerscience.org to find out info on SSP through Caltech, MIT, U of Colorado-Boulder, and New Mexico Institute of Technology. Applications are due March 3rd. (26) Scholarships Seniors, don’t forget to check out the DHS-Affiliated Scholarships posted on Naviance! The pool of applicants is much smaller for DHS-Affiliated Scholarships, which increases your chances of receiving some extra cash to put towards college! Most of the applications are due by 3:20pm on 3/10/17! Search on Naviance by setting a filter to solely view 'DHS-Affiliated' Scholarships: 'Colleges' tab >> 'Scholarship List' >> 'Browse by Category' >> Use drop down arrow and select 'DHS-Affiliated' Check the DHS College Counseling Website under Financial Aid - Scholarships for our helpful scholarship cheat sheet! Students for Children Collection for Camp Dreamcatcher Camp Dreamcatcher is an overnight camp for kids affected by HIV/AIDS. They are in need of overnight items such as: shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, deodorant, mouthwash, soap, etc. Students for Children will be collecting these items in the front and back lobbies January 23-February 3. Please help us make a difference for these special campers! (24) College Options Program The Counseling Departments of Highland Park and Deerfield High Schools invite Sophomores, Juniors and their Parents/Guardians who are interested in learning more about post-secondary options to attend Exploring College Options on January 25th, 6:30pm – 8:30pm in the Auditorium at Highland Park High School. The Exploring College Options panelists represent a large, public university; a small, private, liberal arts college; an international university; and a community college. Presenters will highlight what distinguishes their type of institution from the others and why it might be the right fit. Topics addressed will include academic and extracurricular opportunities, as well as admission, financial aid and scholarship processes. There will be time at the end for Q & A.
