Class starts Friday, Feb. 27 and 28 and runs through July 10 a.m. Looking to learn more about how to grow edible plants and herbs? Our tomato and herb club is a fun way to make new friends and grow delicious edibles while learning something new. During this free 6-session course, participants will meet once a month to learn about topics such as growing techniques, disease treatment and prevention, special tomato and herb varieties, and cooking with your herbs and veggies. We will meet the last Friday and Saturday of each month from this weekend, Feb. 27 and 28, through July. Each Friday and Saturday course are the same, so you'll have two chances to catch the class. Stop by and you'll find fruit trees, including apples, pears, brazel berries (raspberries), blueberries, figs, peaches and more for sale on our tree and shrub lot. Nothing tastes better than ripe, fresh fruit picked right off the tree! Plant early to enjoy fruit throughout the warm months. Our cherry trees, one of the harbingers of spring, are just about to burst into bloom. Come find the perfect tree to add to your yard to remind you that spring really is just around the corner! Houseman Delicious spring produce is on the way After a great first year with our farm fresh produce market, we're gearing up for another bountiful season. We look forward to expanding our selection as well as stocking last year's big hits. Coming up next, we'll be offering fresh local strawberries and honey. In the meantime, we still have some beautiful ruby grapefruits that are sure to please the palate. The greenhouse is in bloom! Spring is getting closer every day. In the meantime, get your fix by taking a stroll through our greenhouse and taking a peek at all the beautiful blooming buds. We have many favorites like floral azaleas, hydrangeas, miniature roses, daffodils, orchids, tulips, gardenias, and so much more! Upcoming Events We're getting in the swing of spring with plenty of fun events Raised Bed Gardening Seminar March 6 or 7 9:30 a.m. Raised beds are a great way to garden, especially for growing veggies, fruits, herbs and greens. This class will teach you everything you need to get started on creating a successful and beautiful "garden in a box" this spring. Looking to start a garden or plan your yard but aren't sure what to grow here? This is the perfect workshop for newcomers to learn more about proven favorite plants for all seasons that will flourish in your new home. We will discuss annuals, perennials, bloomers, trees, shrubs and more as we give growing tips for our microclimate and introduce you to the many possibilities of your new backyard. This class is also great for folks that have lived in Aiken for a while, but want to revamp the yard this spring with some plants that are sure to thrive. Spring Open House March 21 Spring is nearly here! We're celebrating the first official day of our favorite season with our annual open house event. Save the date! In the meantime keep an eye out in future newsletters and on our Facebook page for details. There are sure to be famous Cold Creek hot dogs, great deals, fun activities for the whole family and much more. Annette's Corner Be the first one with ripe tomatoes in your neighborhood! We have small, medium, and large starter plants available now. Also, join us for our Tomato and Herb Club, a FREE informational seminar to be held the last Friday and Saturday of each month from this weekend through July. We'll cover the same material Friday as we will Saturday, so if you can't make it for one, you can make it for the other the next day. The seminars will include some free seeds, plants and more surprises. We will also be using some yummy tomatoes and herbs in recipes free for the tasting.
