Pilbara Canvas is engineered to withstand the rigors of the most extreme Australian climate whilst guaranteeing all round general durability and performance as a natural textile. HVG Pilbara Canvas will provide maximum life and years of good service to your canvas product providing that the following instructions are followed: Prior to using your HVG Pilbara Canvas – we highly recommend that you thoroughly wet the new canvas product before use then allowing it to thoroughly dry in the sun. This process is necessary as it allows the fabric to settle. Failure to do so may result in leakage during initial exposure to rain. Do not use soaps, detergents, strong bleaches as chlorine or liquid cleaners. Do not expose to petrol, oils or solvent liquids. Product must be completely dry and clean when packed, stored or rolled up. Remove any mildew, if it appears, firstly by lightly brushing, then by treating with a diluted mixture – typically 1 part White King to 4 parts water, allowing it to dry in full sun, then hose off any residue. To remove any dirt, simply brush dry fabric with a soft brush and use cold water if required. Prompt removal of any organic matter (grass cuttings, leaf litter, bird droppings, pollutants etc). Never scrub or use any mechanical or high pressure cleaning devices. Occasional rejuvenation of your canvas is highly recommended. HVG recommends only one type of proofing agent to re-invigorate Pilbara Canvas – Defab Reproof. The life expectancy of Pilbara Canvas will be further extended if you include periodical maintenance once a year; taking time to fold out your canvas product, inspecting it and giving it a quick clean if required. It is further recommended that you also (as a precaution) wet down the canvas once a year to ensure the inside continues to stay dry. If looked after, Pilbara Canvas will look after itself for a long time. MANUFACTURING TIPS • Never tear Pilbara Canvas – this will distort the woven construction of the coated base fabric • Appropriately cut with either sharpened scissors or mechanical cutting tools • Allowances – ensure to incorporate a minimum of 2.5 – 3% overall shrinkage in the design fabrication of the canvas product.
