Our Senior Center will sponsor a FIRST RESPONDERS APPRECIATION Day Lunch for them and their
families and the public on Saturday Sept 19, 2015 here in the center. Lunch will be hot dogs and our famous
award winning chili. To defray the cost we are asking a donation of $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for children, responder’s spouses and children are FREE. Stop by and meet and thank the folks who are there when we need
them in an emergency. Time is 10:00am -2:00pm.
We have had a busy month here in the center, Amanda O’Connor with the GROVE MEDICAL MARIJUANNA CENTER was here and gave a very informative question and answer seminar. The seniors were
very receptive and came away better informed for the opening of their business. Attorneys with STOVALL &
ASSOCIATES gave free legal advice with appointments. Call the center and make one if you have a problem.
Kathy Martorano from CREEKSIDE HOSPICE stops in a couple of times a week to see if she can be of an
help to seniors. They also are here to provide free blood pressure checks. Sheila Winn from LEE FUNERAL
HOME had a info session explaining the services they offer and how preplanning can save us a lot of cash.
Wes Clauser from INFINITY HOSPICE will be here again on September 1, 2015 at 10:00am and give a talk
about “SOARING ABOVE LIFE’S CHALLENGES BY EMBRACING A POSITIVE OUTLOOK”.
MS.SENIOR NYE COUNTY LADIES will have a “REMEMBER WHEN SOC HOP with music, prizes,
raffle and Appetizers also a Dance Contest. $20.00 Couple $12.00 singles. See you at the Nugget from 6-9
from on Sept 12th. Get your saddle shoes out girls and poodle skirts. Proceeds to Meals On Wheels. WILLY
WAINWRIGHT performed another concert here in the center. This guy is amazing with what he can do with a
fiddle. Seniors asked to have him back when he has an opening for us. Sandy from HUMANA was here to
help folks out with any HUMANA questions they had. A rep from WALGREENS explained their new photo
processor to seniors, it’s hard to believe what they can do with pictures now. DISCOUNT DENTAL rep Roger
Burnley gave seniors discount cards to help with the cost of their meds. PATIENT CARE also did blood pressure checks for those who missed their last visit. SENIOR DIMENSIONS folks were in for their regular visit
to help and inform seniors with questions.
BLIND SUPPORT meets here last Wednesday of the month at 12:30pm. THE RED HAT LADIES meet here
in the center for lunch and BUNCO the last Tuesday of the month. ‘’TOPS” also meets here Monday mornings
7-9 am so join the fun and loose some tonnage too.

the center. So as you can see “THE BEST IN THE WEST” senior center is the place to be to meet new
friends and enjoy our senior years.
