The King’s Health to Farrinels Ground (Follia)
Stefan Temmingh’s newest concert and CD project
showcases flamboyant instrumental versions of songs
(e.g. Greensleeves, La Follia and other variation cycles)
for recorder and baroque ensemble. These variations are
set in counterpoint to the original 18th century English
songs which served as inspiration.
“Familiarity breeds content – composers like Geminiani and van
Eyck simply couldn’t resist transforming popular songs into virtuoso
instrumental variations. In so doing, they were able to reach out to
their audiences with well known melodies and, at the same time, take
them on an adventurous journey into a world of extravagant ‘cover’
versions.”

Cover-Versionen mitzunehmen.“
