remaining BMSD land area is approximately 11 square miles.

The remaining BMSD areas include 4 regional facilities (landfills/resource recovery plants and Fort
Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport) that total 5.6 sq. miles and will remain unincorporated. In
addition, there are three areas with identified neighborhoods (as shown above), a number of small
enclaves, right of ways and the “county wedge,” an area in the northwest corner of Broward County and
Parkland. The presently remaining unincorporated areas are included in the following map,
“Unincorporated County Boundaries 2016.”
Table 1 includes the current land area totals for the BMSD and the incorporated areas (municipalities).
