The everest challenge user`s guide

The everest challenge user’s guide
Everyday Sport is designed to encourage you to build physical activity into your daily lives. The Everest Challenge
is a great way to get active while having fun in the office without disrupting your work.
Physical activity can improve concentration, reduce stress, improve health and give you that ‘feel good’ factor.
The Everest Challenge aims to persuade you and your colleagues to take the stairs instead of the lift.
The challenge is to keep taking the stairs until you have covered the distance to the summit of Mount Everest…
climbing Ben Nevis, Kilimanjaro and K2 on the way.
Feel the difference when you have taken the stairs instead of the lift at least twice a day for a couple of weeks!
How does it work?
!
Print out the downloadable "Stairs" poster on www.everydaysport.com (under the partners and toolkits tabs).
and place it by the side of the lift doors in your offices.
!
Measure the length of one or more selected staircases in your office.
!
Print out the Daily Tally Chart and place it on the wall/notice board at the end of each designated measured area.
This will become the Everyday Sport Checkpoint.
!
Ask each member of staff to mark the Daily Tally Chart when he/she passes this checkpoint.
!
Add up the tally marks at the end of each week and insert into the Weekly Progress Chart.
!
Colour in the lines of the Everest Challenge Monitor up to the height reached, to clock your progress to the final target.
!
Earmark a visible place in the office to put up the Everest Challenge Monitor.
This can be updated daily or weekly.
How far do we walk?
