What a wonderful week of accomplishment in spite of the extraordinary Christmas excitement!!!!! We worked on special writing gifts for you! You will love them! We completed our Unit 4 Math test on multiplication. Again, keep in mind that the concepts will be reviewed over and over again and retested in January and May! Our next Math unit is about very big numbers our goal being to learn about what you need to buy a house! We have been busy practicing our cursive writing. I told them that it may seem slow at first but if they can get good at it, it makes writing so much faster! The Social Studies test on immigrants went very well. Thanks again for your great study help! We will begin our next Science unit on force and motion in January. After force and motion, we will study Michigan explorers. It is very difficult to make this part of history come alive for kids. If you are a creative costume person, let me know if your child would be interested in researching, dressing up, and talking about Father Marquette, Antoine Cadillac, Samuel de Champlain, Jacques Marquette, Jean Nicolet, Jean du Sable, or Jacques Cartier. They Can bring their Social Studies books home over the break so that you can see pictures. You are welcome to send 30 small stocking stuffer gifts to our holiday party on the 21st if you like. They can be pencils, balloons, candies, etc., small and inexpensive. Please let me know if you would like to bring a small portion of special family recipe from your family heritage to our party on the 21st. Please do not send cupcakes because it is just too much sugar! Thanks! We are looking for volunteers to help with our book cart books on Wednesdays from 8:40-11:30 for grades 1-5 and 12:30-1:15 for Kindergarten. This is a wonderful project where kids can select books at their reading level so that they can practice extra good fluency and comprehension. Please let me know if you can help.
