Our Impact
January – June 2010
We served 12,558 guests
in the Ronald McDonald
Family Room®
We served 558 night
and day guests at
Ronald McDonald House®
We were there in Hershey with
only the clothes on our back, when
our triplets were born four months
prematurely, each weighing a little
more than 1 pound and 12 inches long.
Exiting the hospital that day, when
the boys were four days old and in
such a precarious situation, was like
physically tearing my heart from my
chest and leaving it on the seventh floor
of the hospital. But moments later, my
first steps into the Ronald McDonald
House were like a balm for my breaking
heart. Walking in, we found a home
which was warm, welcoming and a
surprising respite from the stress of
the hospital.
We were absolutely shocked the
first evening when we sat down to eat
dinner, to learn that volunteer families
and organizations provided meals
every night. I literally cried into my
dinner plate that night, not only from
exhaustion, but from the immense
© 2010 McDonald’s
and overwhelming gratitude I felt
for all the Ronald McDonald House
offered and the complete and utter
blessing it was to our drained souls.
We couldn’t believe that people would
give so much to others they may
never know. We stepped foot into the
Ronald McDonald House that first
day on September 8, 2009 and with
the exception of a handful of nights,
we were blessed to call it home until
December 20.
Today, we look back at the journey
the boys have made over the past 12
months, and we know they are truly
our miracle boys! Most people who
look at them today have little idea
of their meager beginnings, as they
are now between 16 and 18 pounds. Ronald McDonald House will now
always hold a very special place in our
hearts forever, because of the kindness
shown to us during our greatest time
of need.
