The President’s Letter
Good Day fellow CASA Members and
friends:
Whew - What a scorcher July has been and
August is thought of as the hottest month!
Let's all hope August is cooler than average
and much more enjoyable.
The highlight of my July was representing
panionship, communication and exercise
are all essential parts. Anyone, looking, or
not, has heard of or witnessed our very poplar Carolina Shaggers Lifestyle. A Lifestyle
filled with enjoyable fun activities including
Food, Drink, Companionship, New Friends,
Great Music and as much dancing as one
can enjoy.
our Chatham Area Shag Association - CASA
I see evidence of this growing trend in that

Future", with an illustration depicting the
entire 95 Club ACSC Group as a big pie and
younger members, (think "Junior Shaggers"),
as a slice of our pie necessary to make the
pie whole and complete.
There is a tremendous age gap between the
Junior Shaggers, who age out at 21, often
grand children of us "Senior" Shaggers, and
the predominant "Grey Hairs" most often
seen at Carolina Shag events. This "in between" group is a major concern for myself
and most Shag Clubs Members.
Last month I broached the subject of involving a younger segment into our ageing
CASA. There was only one member who
responded with ideas and thoughts on this
important issue. I commend her for caring,
responding and sharing ideas.
I feel, from personal observation, that although we are not attracting the 20 trough
40 age group. We - the aging "Grey Hair"
group most often seen at shag dance functions - are attracting the "soon to be Grey
Hair" group who are seeking companionship
and an important Social Life.
In our quest to live longer, productive and
enjoyable lives, we are learning that com-
There are friendly neighbor shag clubs trying to make the new shaggers their home
club. We at CASA MUST get out, be friendly
and attract new shaggers. We have a great
venue for our socials with reasonably priced
excellent seafood, room to socialize or
dance, the best DJs in our area offering a
wide variety of dance favourites and a very
friendly atmosphere.
Let's, at our Chatham Area Shag Association, welcome any newcomers to our socials
- beginning NOW! Shall we offer an incentive
that first time visitors are invited to attend
at no charge or perhaps a guest be admitted
free with a paying member?
