Arrival Check
Good punctuality and regular attendance is important for a
student’s success at school.
The morning entry bell rings at 8:25 a.m. and classes begin at
8:30 a.m. Students who arrive late disrupt the lesson for other
students and miss valuable class time.
If your child will be late or absent please call the Osprey
Woods Arrival Check before 8:30 a.m. Call 905-785-9687,
select option 4 and follow the instructions to leave your
message.
There is a sign-in sheet in the office for students who arrive
after the school bell.
Parents Can Access
Student Bus Information Online
Student Transportation of Peel Region (STOPR) uses
GeoQuery Businfo to measure distance for eligibility purposes.
To access your child’s transportation information and eligibility
follow these instructions:
• type in the website address: businfo.stopr.ca
• click “student login”
• enter your child’s OEN number ( from the Report Card),
street/house number, school and grade
• click login
As our buses are quite full this year
unfortunately we may only be able to offer a
very limited number of seats.
No Nuts Please
Please remember the “nut free” policy when
preparing lunches and snacks. Our students with severe
allergies thank you.
To protect our students with severe allergies we are asking for
your co-operation for the following:
1. Do not send snacks or lunches containing peanuts or nut
products to school.
2. If your child has a nut allergy, please inform the school as
soon as possible.
3. Students do not share snacks or food products as there
may be a possibility of a nut product or by product or
other dietary restrictions.
Lunchtime Supervision
Lunchtime supervision is provided for students who do not go
home for lunch.
Students who eat lunch at school spend the first 20 minutes of
the hour eating their lunch and then go outside for 40 minutes
of playtime, weather permitting.
To ensure that they have enough time to eat, students should
bring their lunch with them when they come to school. A table
will be set up in the hallway for lunch to be dropped off in case
your child did not bring the lunch with them. The class will not
be interrupted to call the student to pick up the lunch so please
ensure that your child knows to come down at lunch time to
pick it up.
Parents can help their children develop good habits by helping
them to pack their backpack with everything they will need for
the day—agenda, homework, lunch, snacks, etc. Students
should also come to school dressed appropriately for the
weather as they will go outside for recess. All articles must be
labelled with the child’s name so lost items can be identified.
Students have the opportunity to eat a snack in the morning
and afternoon. Please send healthy snacks for your child if
they wish to eat at these times. Fruit, vegetables, cheese and
crackers are examples of healthy snacks.
Use Canada’s Food Guide to help your child get the nutrients
and energy he needs to have a successful school day.
4. Please do not send food to school to for celebrations.
Kiss and Ride – Ready to go
We will continue to have a fully functioning Kiss and Ride
before school. It is located at the south side of the school.
Please follow the arrows on the pavement as you enter at the
southern most entrance.
We will have staff on hand to assist with this. We could really
benefit from volunteer help for the Kiss n Ride area. Please
contact the office if you are able to help out from 8:15 to
8:30am.
Please do not park in front of the Kindergarten area.
Thank you for your co-operation and consideration for the
safety of others.
Milk deliveries will begin on Tuesday, September
11, 2012. Tickets will be sold on Tuesday mornings at a cost
of $8.00 for a sheet of 10 tickets.

Getting Off to a Good Start
We use the analogy with students of school being like a race,
in that it is important to get off to a good start and that includes
setting aside time for homework, reading and reviewing.
There should be a regular time and place, without distractions,
where students can complete their work. Please continue to
check the agendas daily for current assignments or notes from
the teacher.
If there are questions, please give us a call.
Good habits now will pay dividends later. We are very
appreciative of the home support parents provide.

proud of our team accomplishments and have proven that
dedication and hard work create exceptional results.

A huge thank you to our custodians who worked
tirelessly over the summer to prepare the school for
our first week!
Head Custodian:
Mr. Tom Spowart
Custodian
Mrs. Dulcie Orr-Smith
Custodian
Mr. Stuart Strong
Mr. Ed Jackson, who was a custodian at Osprey Woods for
many years retired at the beginning of the summer. We thank
him for his many years of dedicated service and wish him all
the best as he moves on to new adventures.
Also, Mrs. Lana Fryer, who has been at Osprey Woods since it
opened will be retiring in September. We will be planning
together with teachers and students to say farewell. Mrs. Fryer
has been an important member of our Osprey Woods
community, and will be sorely missed.
Information for the School Council elections is provided in the
first day envelope. We encourage all of you to participate so
that you can assist us in the important task of representing the
values and priorities of the parent community through an
inclusive partnership between home and school.
The first School Council meeting has been scheduled for
Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. in the library.
We look forward to seeing many of you on that evening to
conduct our School Council elections, if necessary, and to give
you an opportunity to learn more about the day-to-day
operation of our school.
Pizza Days will continue once a week starting in October.
Watch for the order form and return it by the due date as late
orders cannot be accommodated. Pizza is ordered based on
the exact numbers required.
If you do not order pizza every week please remember to
make a note of the dates you order and those when you do not
order and need to send a lunch with your child. This is to
reduce confusion for your child who may be expecting pizza if
he doesn’t bring a lunch from home.
