#832 Man o’ War – Woodrow Wilson’s closest confidant/advisor during World War I was Colonel House, so as to prophetically represent “thou shalt not build an house for my name, because thou hast been a man of war” Colonel House. Edward Mandell House, commonly known by the honorary title of Colonel House, was President Woodrow Wilson’s closest confidant and advisor during World War I. He was even provided living quarters within the White House. House threw himself into world affairs, promoting Wilson’s goal of brokering the peace to end World War I. However, after the sinking of the Lusitania on May 7, 1915, with U.S. neutrality becoming even more precarious, House decided that the war was an epic battle between democracy and autocracy. He argued that the United States ought to help Britain and France win a limited Allied victory. Wilson at the time still insisted on neutrality. After the United States eventually entered World War I on April 6, 1917, House played a major role in shaping wartime diplomacy. Wilson had House assemble a team of academic experts to devise efficient postwar solutions to all of the world’s problems. In September 1918, Wilson gave House the responsibility of preparing a constitution for a League of Nations. Eventually House had serious policy disagreements with Woodrow Wilson over the League of Nations. Key Understanding: Wilson’s house of God. The Lord ordained a man named House, and with an honorary military title at that (Colonel), to serve as ‘Man o’ War’ President Woodrow Wilson’s closest confidant/advisor during World War I – when America was fulfilling its destiny as the Fourth Rome Christian Democracy to Make the World Safe for Democracy – so as to point to the fact that Men o’ War were attempting to build the House of God. However, Men of War cannot build the House of God. 1 Chronicles 28:3 (KJV) But God said unto me [King David], THOU SHALT NOT BUILD AN HOUSE FOR MY NAME, BECAUSE THOU HAST BEEN A MAN OF WAR, AND HAST SHED BLOOD. #832 Man o’ War – Woodrow Wilson’s closest confidant/advisor during World War I was Colonel House, so as to prophetically represent “thou shalt not build an house for my name, because thou hast been a man of war” Page 1 of 2 Here is #832–Doc 1, a biography on Colonel Edward House.
