Parent PAWS March 1, 2016
New information:
1. I would like to thank everyone who attended Friday morning’s Black History Program. Thank you to Ms.
Morrison and her committee for arranging a wonderful program. There was standing room only.  Students and
teachers worked hard together to share this event with you. GREAT JOB, everyone!!!
2. We will only have one bus for the remainder of the school year. Our basketball players will ride to the Omni
Center at The Presbyterian Church on Edisto on Tuesdays and Thursdays one more week.
3. If your child has outgrown pants or shirts and they are in pretty good condition, please donate them to our
emergency closet.
4. Most of you have probably heard that Ms. Bryant, our kindergarten teacher, was in a serious automobile accident
last week. The latest word from her mother is that all surgeries have been completed and she’s on the road to
recovery. It’s going to be a very long road. While she is away, we have Ms. Monica Smith, a certified teacher
and former CD/K teacher, filling in for her. Mrs. Mayer and Mrs. Flowers will be working with Mrs. Smith and
Ms. Coaxum to keep student learning on track. Parents, it is critical that you insist on a few things from your
child to ensure a successful remainder of the school year. All students must participate in class, do their
classwork, listen to and follow directions politely the first time, and follow PAWS at all times. This will be a
period of adjustment for all involved and will go more smoothly if the students follow these four expectations.
When I visited Ms. Bryant Thursday afternoon, the first thing she asked was how her “babies” were doing. I
would appreciate the children doing what they are supposed to do to learn and to make Ms. Bryant less stressed.
She’s still a part of what’s going on in her classroom even while away.
Reminders:
1. Our tardy bell rings at 8:05. Your child should be in his/her classroom when that bell rings. They should have already
stopped to get their breakfast and do any other business prior to the 8:05 bell. You need to bring your child in the office
after 8:05 to get a tardy pass. Also, please be on time to pick your child up at 3:25 each day. Your child should know
who to look for at dismissal if they ride in a car before coming to school that day.
2. Do NOT call for afternoon changes. We will need a note from you at the beginning of the day. It is just not safe.
Please do not put us in an uncomfortable position by not abiding by this. THANK YOU for continuing to help us with
this!!!
3. Please remember that all CARS are to park in the far side of the parking lot per the sign in the driveway. Please don’t
park on the bus side even if you think you’ll only be a second. This includes morning drop off and afternoon pick up.

your child, sign, and return in the Tuesday folder with your child the next day. If your child does not complete his/her
classwork or homework, our Completion Center is available for you to come ensure your child completes it on Thursday
afternoons from 3:30-4:30. Children do not get a zero. They must do all work to learn the standards. That’s why they
come to school; it’s their job to learn the standards.
6. If you have questions or concerns, you can place a note in the Parent Suggestion Box in the main office. You can also
leave a message on the school voice mail by dialing 869-2124 extension 20790. I try to respond within 48 hours.
7. You are always invited to sit in your child’s class to observe. Stop by the office for a pass. Please contact me if you
have any questions, concerns, or suggestions.
