2015/1/19 Mainland tourists “swept” facial masks, showing
outstanding revenue
A well-known large-scale company’s face masks are very welcomed
in Mainland China. A pineapple cake store saw this opportunity and
collaborated with the factory to sell face masks. They sold more than
5,000 boxes in just one month, created more than 2 million NTD in
revenue.
Uni-President’s “My Beauty Diary” face masks are very
famous in Mainland China. Taiwan’s retail price is cheaper by
40%, so a lot of Mainland tourists go to drugstore to
‘sweep’ the masks. Pineapple cake store ‘Vigor
Kobo’ saw the opportunity and worked together with Uni-President
to sell ‘My Beauty Diary’ face masks. In one month, they
sold 5,000 boxes and had 2 million NTD in revenue. Even Uni-President
was surprised.
Taipei City Tourism Bureau Development Chief Wang Da-Tung stated that
the Mainland tourists that come in groups have better consumption
capacity than those who travel by themselves. A lot of tourists who
bought the masks bought them ‘in cardboards.’
