Sun 7/12 1:30 PM - E150 Interior Green Wall Showcase Susan Austin WHAT IS MINIGARDEN? Minigarden is a simple and robust modular gardening system. The modules are easy-touse building blocks for your vision. Think of it as Lego for living walls. It is a substrate-based system. Use a lightweight, porous potting mix, as you would for container planting. The system works on an “independent drainage” philosophy, meaning that each module drains directly to the base, not to the plant below. Cultivate15 Each module has its own irrigation, allowing for greater control and less water usage. Irrigation can be done either by hand, or automated. The modules are installed into the wall via its CLIPS. It is very similar to how a shelf, or bookcase would be installed. Gardens can also be stacked on the ground/floor. Simple, Robust & Versatile Minigarden for Interiorscapers For Cultivate15 - July 2015 INTRODUCTION At Minigarden, our goal is to provide the maximum number of options to interiorscapers and landscapers so they can confidentially and immediately execute any living wall project Minigarden can be used for projects small and large and both indoors or outdoors. INSTALLATION CHECKLIST FLOOR-STACKED LIVING WALL Balcony Attachments to Wood Battens For concrete or other hard surfaces, or in situations where you want to minimize drill holes, it is faster to install wood (or metal) battens into the surface, and then attach the Minigarden modules into the battens. Attach horizontal battens to vertical posts. This will create a strong frame while also providing space between the modules and the vertical surface (air circulation) MATERIALS LIST (bottom upwards) •3 Minigarden Vertical Base Trays (3 columns) • 27 Minigarden Vertical Modules (3 columns x 9 high) • Geotextile membrane, approx. 180 square inches/module (25.4” x 7”) • Draining Medium: 27 liters/ 7 gallons of expanded clay pebbles (1L x 27 modules) • Potting Mix: 270 liters/ 71.3 gallons (10L x 27 modules) • 81 plants (4” neon pothos, jade pothos, Jade crassula, philos, arrow vines) (27 x 3 = 81) Horizontal battens should be positioned at the height of the rear clips. You can directly attach the modules into the batten, or use the Minigarden fixers to slide the modules in. TO INSTALL INTO WALL: •Six 2x4s cut to 165 cm height / 65 inches in height (2 boards x 3 columns) •Pack of 6 x 1-5/8” Deck Screws (total 18 used) • Power drill and Philips bit TIME ALLOTTED •Planting modules 8 minutes x 27 modules = 216 minutes (3.6 hours) – one person • Onsite measuring and assembly: 2 hours (two people) – 4 hours •TOTAL TIME SPEND: 7 HOURS INSTALLATION CHECKLIST PLYWOOD-MOUNTED WALL CONDITIONS: •Wall-mounting required • No access to water source.
