Florentine Renaissance Painting

KENT U3A STUDY DAY : FLORENTINE RENAISSANCE PAINTING
KENT U3A STUDY DAY : FLORENTINE RENAISSANCE PAINTING
An unprecedented flowering of the arts took
place in 15th century Florence, ushering in
what we call the Renaissance. Focusing
mainly on paintings by Masaccio and
Botticelli, but including works by other artists,
this day school will look at why and how
Florentine Renaissance art evolved, and
explore ideas about Antiquity, patronage,
humanism, painting techniques and style. The
tutor is Graham Whitham, Art Historian at
The University. of Kent & co-author of
'Understanding Art History' & 'Understanding
Contemporary Art' who has previously lectured
at our Study Days in 2009 and 2011.
