INSTRUCTIONS
The National Women's Department of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ of the Apostolic Faith
is pleased to offer “The Renaissance Scholarship Fund For Women” to woman 40 years of age
and above who have the drive, courage, and acumen to follow their dreams of higher education.
This scholarship is offered in keeping with the Women's Department mission statement to
"…develop confident, educated and mature women to have a voice in the administrative business
of the church organization…" A $10,000 scholarship award will be issued each year to one or
more qualified applicants who have applied and been accepted to a college, university or other
institution of higher learning. Funds for the winner(s) will be released each year (or semester),
after proof of re-enrollment is submitted. Checks will be made payable to the school, not the
individual. Thank you for pursuing your dreams!
Explicit compliance with the stipulations outlined below is required:
1.
Submission of a completed application form.
2.
Applicant must be at least 40 years of age at time of application deadlines.
3.
Applicant must complete (2) two page typed essays responding to the following:
a.) “Why do you feel that you should be a recipient of this award? What makes
you a Renaissance Woman?”
b.) “How will you directly give back to this church organization?”
4.
Applicant must submit proof of enrollment/acceptance to an accredited school/
college/university. Preference will be given to candidates that display
characteristics of leadership in civic activities, community service, church
activities, and volunteerism.
5.
Recipient must agree to sign the “Declaration of Service” upon acceptance of
the Renaissance Scholarship Fund for Woman, should she be a chosen recipient.
Applicant must be active in the church organization and of good report in
the community, and not known to be in opposition of the current administration.
Applicant must submit two supporting letters of recommendation; at least one letter
should come from a local or district person in leadership position within our
organization. Letters must be signed and dated in accord with the submission deadline.

package postmarked or received no later than the scholarship deadline to:

“Declaration of Service Agreement”
A selected Renaissance Scholarship Award Recipient (hereafter Recipient)
acknowledges, understands, accepts and agrees that in consideration of
receiving the Renaissance Scholarship, there is an expectation by the
Church that she will perform measurable and verifiable church related
Approved Duties1 for 720 Service Hours2 for the Church in a period
beginning from receipt of the award and lasting to not more than two years
after receiving the award.

Approved Duties: These are acts/tasks that are provided to the Church and must be
approved as qualifying by the local, district or national women’s supervisor before the act/task is
performed. Such duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: assisting in
administrative report creation, planning/hosting local, district or national functions, etc.

Service Hours: These hours occur in the performance of Approved Duties and must
be verified by the local, district or national women’s supervisor and reported to the National
Women’s Department scholarship committee for proper tracking and monitoring. The reporting
of service hours must include the: (1) date, (2) time, and (3) type of service rendered. This is the
equivalent of 90 days @ 8 hours per day.
